An early look inside Trump’s operation into his rival for the nomination reveals nothing is off the table.

Quote

Among the items a Trump-allied group has drilled into is DeSantis’ record while serving as an assistant U.S. Attorney before running for congressional office, with plans to accuse him of being an “extremely lenient prosecutor” in cases involving, among other things, child pornography.

Quote

"The more and more that gets highlighted the more DeSantis is going to get exposed as just another member of the establishment and compared to Jeb Bush.”

Quote

“Trump was a good policy guy and I’d put him up there with Ronald Reagan on policy, but presidentially he was a disaster the way he acted, the calling people names,” said former congressman Tom Marino, who co-chaired Trump’s 2015 campaign in Pennsylvania but is now supporting DeSantis.

But they also plan to highlight what’s described as the “personality factor.” Trump allies say the Florida governor can be awkward and mechanical in public, and note he has largely avoided the press.

And other things he's attacking DeSantis on, plus the nicknames:

Quote

He’s made digs at the Florida governor’s backpedaling on raising the retirement age and privatizing Social Security and Medicare, has floated unsavory questions about DeSantis’ time as a teacher in Georgia, and has considered different nicknames for the governor including “Ron Establishment” and “Tiny D,” which he told reporters he likes. For now he is settling on “Ron DeSanctimonious,” or, for short, “DeSanctus.” Trump denied he was ever considering another oft-mentioned nickname — “Meatball Ron” — and told reporters it is “too crude.”

A Trump-aligned Super PAC also just filed an ethics complaint against Meatball Ron.

The primary pro-Trump super PAC is filing a complaint with the Florida Ethics Commission over what it says is the governor's "shadow presidential campaign."

Donald Trump’s allies are stepping up their battle with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, formally accusing him of violating state ethics and election laws with his “shadow presidential campaign.”

Make America Great Again Inc. is filing a 15-page complaint Wednesday with the Florida Commission on Ethics, a draft of which was obtained exclusively by NBC News.

It asks the commission to probe whether pro-DeSantis super PACs, his "personally lucrative book tour" and a continued wave of state-level campaign contributions, among other things, "are unlawful because they serve his personal political objectives, are in furtherance of his personal financial gain at the expense of Florida taxpayers, and are intended to influence his official decision to resign from office."

He'll just keep denying his usage of 'Meatball Ron' to use it in a roundabout way. He absolutely knows how funny it is and doesn't intend to hold back, he just wants the deniability.

"I never considered calling him 'Meatball Ron'.  In fact, I'd never call him 'Meatball Ron' because calling him 'Meatball Ron' would be far too insulting.  Besides, 'Meatball Ron' just doesn't roll off the tongue very well.  Just say it with me - 'Meatball Ron'.  'Meatball Ron'.  'Meatball Ron'.  See what I mean?"

Some version of this will be in more or less every stump speech.

I’m morbidly curious how people like Desantis and his shitty ilk feel about Trump in reality.  How infuriating must it be to be so completely and utterly defeated by a moronic clown throwing around playground insults.  Ron almost certainly felt like this was his golden opportunity.  Trump ate shit in 2020, had all his lawsuits die, cost conservatives the midterms, and Ron’s own popularity was rising, but he’s going to go down in flames because the dumbest motherfucker alive calls him a meatball on tv.

Trump shall be our next president. Just a reminder in case anyone needed it.

Nah, people forget how truly hated Trump is by the majority to the point where people were literally partying in the streets during the pandemic once it was announced Biden had won.

People are going to see his crazy shit again on the news and they’re going to be reminded why 2017-2020 was a REALLY bad time for the country.

Its what im feeling as well.. Honestly Covid and his reaction to it might have played a part in his loss (though if anything the margin of loss might have been smaller)

the lack of consequences for his actions/insurrection can easily be dismissed as “if i had done anything wrong I’d be in jail”…. the Cult members in Congress did not get dumped out either.

I really don’t know how you can watch what happened in 2018, 2020, and 2022, and still think the odds are in favor of Trump winning. It isn’t impossible, but guy needs a LOT of help.

Best scenario that definitely won’t happen is DeSantis or some other republican gets the GOP nominee, Trump doesn’t like it and runs anyway, guaranteed Biden win from vote split.
