I just got my first OLED TV and need advice regarding setup

55" LG OLED B2

Are there any widely recognized setup guides to follow you guys know of? Like a respected website with setup guides or similar? I got really overwhelmed trying to find a proper guide yesterday between all the half-assed clickbait articles, incorrect information regarding menu options and what not.

Specifically looking for PS5 setup I guess if possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated because after all the time I spent with it yesterday, I felt very underwhelmed and not really what I wanted after dropping the money on the fucking thing. It's 100% my confusion with the 87987343 options though.

It’s funny how completely wrong a tv can look these days with the wrong settings. I, like you, didn’t worry because I knew it would be like that but my first impression was the same. Especially with gaming, toggle a wrong setting or two and all the life is washed out of the image.

I have a Sony tv from 2 years ago that looked absolutely gross when I hooked my Xbox up to it. Like dark harsh colors mixed ridiculous reds and greens. There has to be a huge set of customers out there that don’t know any better. They just plug and play and think that’s that.  Kind of annoying.

I basically use what settings RTINGS says for each model. They also have specific tabs for gaming, etc.

Here's their page on yours:

We used the following calibration settings to review the 65-inch LG B2 (OLED65B2), and we expect them to be valid for the 55-inch model (OLED55B2) and the 77-inch model (OLED77B2).

It baffles me just how bad these look out of the box as well. I mean I already knew you had to fully set these things up properly but I was a tad shocked when I first started it up and some soccer match came on with that all this "AI Image Enhancement" garbage making it look like a badly emulated SNES game. The grass looked neon green somehow!?

lol sounds like color was set to 100 or something - I think the color setting is confusing because someone might think that 100 is like what it’s supposed to be to have full color, when really normal is like 50 and anything above it is just tuning it more vibrant to your own preference. It should be 100 as default and then go up to 110, 120, etc instead to make it more obvious

I have color to 60 on all 3 consoles and different inputs. I have the Switch on identical settings as my PS5 and it looks great.

Yeah I would've never caught that and I actually read manuals. It didn't make that clear.

mine of those is gonna be your Arc/eARC port, so that’s what you will need to control a sound bar or compatible sound device. Which would then leave you with only 1 HDMI2.1 port.

it’s why I had to get an 8K HDMI switch.

I think mine is at like 65, which I know is a bit over saturated but I’ve always tweeked things more vibrant and use the vibrant mode on the switch oled too. 100 is just freaking silly lol
