are you able to get someone to deliver it to you in the hospital or do you need to wait until you get home?

Apparently you can have things delivered to you in the hospital, but it sounds like a big hassle and there’s a chance that your packages can get lost. So I’m not going to chance it, and just have it sent to my house and have a friend pick it up and bring it to me in the hospital.

I can throw in $25, I’ll send it later tonight.

Thanks, but I’ve already met my goal so you don’t need to unless you want to. I’m sure that I could find something to buy with the extra money.

That’s great you can have someone bring it! I had mine in the hospital (tho oled wasn’t out yet sadly) during my 3 week stay and while I didn’t play a ton of it due to the extent of my injury the times I did play Quake and No more Heroes 3 were some of the few happy memories there!

Did you have yours delivered to the hospital? If you did and it went smoothly, then I might go that route. It would be more convenient then having a family friend pick it up from my house, and bring it to the hospital.

make sure to buy the OLED system and not the regular Switch @Phaseknox

Yeah, I’m definitely buying the OLED and not the regular.

Yeah, I’m definitely buying the OLED and not the original.

Oh no I had someone bring it, this was still during stricter covid protocols so they barely even allowed that

What is this game exactly? I know it’s not anything like the three Bayonetta games. Speaking of those, I get to play Bayonetta 2 and 3 now which I’m looking forward to because I really like the first game.

@Phaseknox Any update on 1) your health and 2) your Switch order? :D

1) I found out yesterday that the bone in my foot is infected, and the doctor told me today that my foot needs to be amputated. It’s being amputated tomorrow morning.

2) I have not ordered my Switch yet, but I will after my amputation when I’m taken to the recovery facility which I will be at for 2-4 weeks.

Oof, that's some really tough news. Stupid question, but.... How are you doing with it?

I echo Brian's sentiments: If there's anything we can do, please let us know.

My foot was amputated today, but it still feels like it’s there. The worst part about it right now isn’t that my foot is missing, but that my entire leg is wrapped extremely tightly with bandages and there’s a big hard plastic stint underneath it so that I can’t bend my knee. The pressure is almost unbearable. I see the doctor tomorrow and I’m going to tell him about it, and hopefully it gets loosened or something because right now it feels like my entire leg is in a vice.

Sorry to hear that it came to that :( I hope that after time it will be pain free and it feels as normal as it can. That’s scary to me feeling like the foot is still there. Sometimes when the pain is real bad I fantasize about just having below my ankle cut off to make the constant pain stop but always feel like with my luck i would get phantom pain and still feel it down there even if it was gone.

Also I wonder if the hospital is treating you extra nice since it sounds like from the order of events that they didn’t have any set up to see you for the bandaging care with the bad weather and didn’t give you any alternative which led to the infection which led to losing your foot..

Yeah, I’m looking forward to when my leg is pain free and feels as normal as it can as well because right now it really hurts to the touch, any slight movement of it makes it hurt and it hurts when just trying to rest it on pillows. I’m somewhat learning what positions it hurts less in, and what ways that I can rest it without hurting but it’s a constant challenge. It makes it extremely difficult to maneuver in bed. I can’t just freely move around anymore, every movement has to be slow, calculated and meticulous. I’m stuck in certain positions as well which is really uncomfortable. I need this all to be over soon, because I mentally and physically can’t take much more. It’s taking it’s toll on me.

That incident occurred at wound care, not the hospital. Although going a couple of extra days without my my foot being cleaned and bandaged might have contributed to the infection, that wasn’t the cause of it according to doctors. They don’t think that my oral antibiotics were working well enough to fight off the infection.

Talk to your primary care doc or find a diabetes specialist and get set up with a Libre 3. Will save your life.

The doctor told me that the insurance wouldn't cover it, and I would need to talk to my insurance about which monitor they would cover. I called the insurance company, and they told me they don't have a list of what's covered, so my doctor would have to prescribe me one and see if it covers it. I couldn't get ahold of my doctor's office, and my next appointment is in 6 months.

My amputated leg is feeling a little better, it doesn’t hurt as much as it did for the first couple of days. I was going to be discharged from the hospital yesterday and go to rehab, but my insurance needs to approve it. I waited yesterday and all day today for a decision from my insurance, they said that they will have one no later than tomorrow. Hopefully they approve it tomorrow and I will finally go to rehab, because it’s a waste of time to sit in a hospital bed all day and night when I could be at rehab getting physical therapy, and getting closer to going home.

Did you get out of the hospital yet? I'm sorry you're going through that and hopefully physical therapy starts soon.
