I can't seem to find the rhythm in this game. I can play trombone champ and get S scores on tracks, but on this it just feels like it misses more than it should. I am playing this with a wireless controller so I dunno if it's input lag or something but it just feels wrong.

Not that I'm the most musically inclined person by any stretch, but for some reason this doesn't feel like it syncs right and that kind of ruins the appeal of fighting to the beat.

Turn off that option and play it like a hack n slash.

I played for 2 hours. It looks really cool and has great dialogue. All though I had a bit of fun I don't know if this game is entirely for me. I'm not sure if I'll finish it or not.

It's definitely unique and beautiful but it just hasn't grabbed me. It's just fantastic that  It's on gamepass.

I could, but it feels like I'd be missing the thing that makes it stand out and would be left with something more generic.

I want the rhythm combat to work, but for some reason I can't seem to sync with it. Maybe I'm just bad at rhythm when I'm also trying to fight and too many prior game biases cloud my timing of attacks. But if that's true, I wish there were better feedback about what's going wrong. They have a lot of tools to "show" you the timing of the beats, but they don't really do anything to tell you why they think you're off. So even if it is my fault for not doing it right (rather than input latency or some other issue in the game), it comes off feeling arbitrary and ultimately unsatisfying.

I completely agree now that I put some time in it. If I play it again I'm going to attempt to play the game the way it's supposed to be played but I have a bad feeling I will feel the way you do. Oh well, it's a gamepass game.

Even if you're no good at following the beat, the game goes out of its way to help you stay on-beat. For example, all attacks off-beat are delayed so that they strike on-beat, so if you attack as soon as any attack lands, you're on-beat. This means even if you keep whiffing openers, you should be able to keep on-track from there. (And you can just time your openers to the cat pulsing.)

I'm aware. Yet I still seem to only get C's on the "just timing" and things just feel off. If I could tell you what's going wrong, I wouldn't have made the post that I did :p

I’m back to finishing this one up, just three stages left. Still a lot of fun even with all the beat stuff turned down as low as possible l. There’s plenty of variation and depth to the combat and platforming to keep things interesting even with the to the beat part being mostly visual when played this way.

The worst part are the parry's where it can require a bit more precise timing to move forward in some sections but you can honestly sorta just button mash past them as long as you respond quickly when the circle flashes.

Besides that it’s a good mix of character action and platforming with a fun cast and story. And visually its just literally pornography on an oled @sblfilms

Oh man the end of that chapter 10 fight

fighting their werewolf while scrooge mcducking in the coin pit

looked so cool. This is one game that will literally always look good, it will always look about as good as it does now because it nails its intended style so perfectly.

Though also it runs amazingly well too with no stutters and I’m running it just locked at 6k/120. Really at a fantastic intersection between art and technology with this one.

Finished this one up today, very solid game all the way through, probably a 9/10. It’s really the perfect length for a game like this. Hope this is a franchise as I’d love to see more but also if there aren’t more it does wrap up nicely. Great job with the pacing keeping things fresh all the way through.

It probably runs sub 30 which would be not great for a rhythm game.

Just look at that Grounded video and you'll get an idea of what it might look like.

I didn’t think it was that taxing but I guess it could launch with the Switch 2

Hi-Fi Rush will skip the current Nintendo Switch and instead arrive on the console's currently-unannounced successor. That's according to a report from Insider Gaming, which states that the absence of a Switch version of the game in yesterday's Xbox multi-platform announcement was due to it launching on Nintendo Switch 2 instead.
