I stopped reading that article when they characterized Brosnan's Bond as a "cheesy caricature"... if his Bond was cheesy,  then they all were. Brosnan was as bout as perfect a Bond as you could cast.

I was like... "Yeah, Brosnan, sure. Certainly not Roger Moore. Heavens no!"

That writing on all of the ones after Goldeneye were horrendous, but Brosnan was always on point.

Brosnan still is my favorite 007. They can kick rocks. How the hell they call him cheesy and not mention Roger Moore's place as the captain of 007 cheese. I'm not hating on Moore, he was the 007 that got me started on the franchise, but let's keep it real.

It was a short article so I continued on. As a comic book reader, I'm tired of the "kill'em off and bring'em back" gimmicks so this is turning me off already. Bond kick ass and gets his ass kicked as well but lives to fight another day.

I think all Bonds have been cheesy to some extent. Goldeneye is the most grounded of the Brosnan flicks but he still stops a tank so he can adjust his tie. :p  Someone should be executed for his “I thought Christmas only came once a year,” and “talk about an edifice complex” lines.

That being said I should watch Goldeneye again. Every time I go into it, I forget that a decent chunk of the movie looks like the budget was the equivalent of 3 meatball subs, some of the shit looks ROUGH. :p

Lol Brosnan Bond movies were definitely cheesy. Golden Eye was mostly ok, but the others had poor green screen effects, like they had not evolved from the methods used to make the Rodger Moore Bond films. Also the writing kept getting comically worse. By the end Bond only spoke in cheesy, sexually charged, one-liners. None of that is on Brosnan.

Killing off Bond would be interesting. Either they would be doing it so they could do a full reboot after this film, ala Casino Royal. Or they would be making the theory official that every 007 agent also gets the code name James Bond, and all of the movies fit into the same cinematic universe.

Then Felix Leiter would have to be a code name too.

Not sure they could do that without causing a bunch of issues.
