$900 is more than where I used to live and it's a lot more than where I currently live as well. Both on the west coast.

I know at least in Portland, finding anything for less than $1000 means it's probably a roach infested shit hole. In 2016 or so I rented a 2 bedroom house for $1500/month that was a piece of shit. That same house is going for $2100/month now.

I got a place, but I can't move in until the 5th and Airbnb is getting fuuuuucking expensive here with Mardi gras.

I'm not broke, but I don't have any way of adding my money to my bank account as B of A does not operate in Louisiana. So I have to get a new bank and hope my old account lasts long enough to pay my rent in 8 days.

I might actually just nap at work on one of the days where I have to work until 5am and be back at noon, which I'm pretty sure I have to do sun/mon

About to move as well. Started doing a major clean & purge of my place and I can't believe how much useless shit I was dragging around for years.

Also, will be selling a lot of my NES/SNES games etc. on here soon.

Every single year in college, as the end of the spring semester would approach I'd mentally account for the large items in my room and think "oh packing won't be that it's not that many things" and without fail it would take fucking hours as I discovered all the small items jammed into the back of drawers and shit like that.

Dude. A fucking closet you think will take 'an hour' will not be empty after 4 hours. Never fails. Ever.

Like an indoor trash can or an outdoor trash can?

Indoor. Turns out you need one for your bathroom, too!

I'm doing a complete restart for the first time in my adult life. Just as I realized how much useless shit I accumulated over the years that I had to get rid of, I'm now getting into the phase of "... it would be nice if I had that..." So the cycle repeats.

When I moved back to the States I also had to furnish an apartment basically from scratch. Even going with the Ikea option for pretty much everything, I think I spent nearly $2k. I feel you bro.

When I moved back to the states from South Korea a few years back, I had practically everything I owned with me, so I liquidated everything and left SO MUCH STUFF in my apartment in Korea that I just abandoned. I came back to the San Francisco Bay Area with two suitcases and had literally nothing. Five years later, I had an entire house filled with stuff (junk). I don't understand how I keep doing that.

I am officially broke.:sun:

Everything should be alright. All my bills are paid except for a deposit I forgot to pay on my electric bill (whoops), so hopefully I don't get my power shut off tomorrow. Other than that, I own a bed, a kitchen, and made the must broke bachelor as shit configurations in my living room.

The bed is the biggest thing. I spent 3 nights sleeping on the floor. Would not recommend.

Mother in law saying goodbye to the house she built more than 25 years ago. She started crying a LOT.

The boys have been unloading my MIL’s stuff into her house.

She has been enjoying putting everything away in her new space. Lots left to unpack, but Juanita and her two sisters will be helping through out the next week to get it all where it goes.

Moving does suck, but my MIL is very happy to be here finally. We are too 😊

To add to this thread. Just had an offer accepted on a house which is great.

Now to see if we get approved for a mortgage, then once that’s done, the unenviable task of packing up an entire house, driving it 15 minutes up the road, and unpacking it into a new place.

When I looked for a home many years ago I did a pre-approval for a mortgage

We have a thing in the UK called an agreement in principle. So we’ve submitted our income, our monthly spending and had a credit check which was accepted - but then we have to submit all our payslips, bank statements etc to be checked over to see if we can actually afford what we said we could. I wish they would just take it all and say ‘we’ll give you this.’

We’re moving on Friday and this is the worst experience of my life. I’ve been to the tip (dump) about 8 times in the last 2 days, spent about 6 hours in our loft (attic) sand have spent the rest of the time either packing boxes or looking after my daughter. Still have loads that needs doing and…2 days to do it. I cannot wait for this self inflicted nightmare to be over.
