I was curious about the state of crypto mining so I downloaded Nicehash

And I’m producing $4 a day after electrical costs, which pays for my Diet Coke habit. I’m actually a bit surprised it’s even that high here in 2022.

Anyway, that made me fall down the rabbit hole looking at people who ran up massive credit card bills to get into mining over the last year and there is a lot of chatter that GPU mining will die almost overnight when Eth 2.0 and it’s proof of stake system arrives. Will be interesting to see what that does to the graphics card market

When factoring out electricity, it’s about $300 leftover. Crazy to think how much BTC or ETH you could generate back in the early days of mining. I know a few people here did a good bit of it back in the day.1214-F77-F-394-B-4680-8-CE7-AE282-D540-D50

I think I’m going to turn it off now that the weather is warming and I’ll have to start running the AC to keep my office cool. But neat to see how it works.
