One of my best ever meals was when, through an accident, my then girlfriend, now wife, booked me an extra day in Amsterdam after all my friends went home. I went to the highest rated (not posh) restaurant in my area, ate at the bar and spent my time chatting to the guys working. Normally, that would be my nightmare, but they were lovely. I've gone to movies in pitch dark theaters sitting next to strangers giving no fucks. Eating at a restaurant or going to a concert alone. I'm too shy for that I think. It's not for me.
