Couple of questions. When you come to an area that has multiple enemies is there a way to show where all of them are at once without alerting everyone? Like I’ll do a stealth kill but wasn’t aware there were other enemies close by and then I’m overwhelmed in seconds.

Also what’s the best way to kill multiple enemies? I’ve been stealth killing then using my grappling hook to immediately get out of the area. Then re-set and wash and repeat.

Exploiting the AI to de-aggro is usually a sound strategy if it’s possible.

For instance that area you encounter the Shinobi hunter for the first time I would dive on the roof at the beginning to kill the first one, usually only the archer sees you after that then you can run away and he’ll go back to normal, then go through the bushes and kill him. If you’re lucky only the guy next to the fire will notice and you can retreat. Seems tedious but that’s the way I did it.

But if there is an area with two like guys you can eavesdrop on I generally jump stealth kill the more powerful or armored guy first and the lesser guy can be struck down pretty easily.

I can’t speak for later in the game but early on that’s working for me. :p

Literally just pan the camera. Also, there is a stealth skill that will let you create a smoke screen from stealth kills that will let you stealth kill anyone in/around it.

Sometimes I don’t see them because they blend in with the ground.

The game definitely uses stealth more to thin out the mobs and/or to let you get mini-bosses down one life bar but not really to clear entire areas. You can certainly do it if you're slick, but I believe the intent is to thin out and then engage in combat with the rest seeing how there are plenty of things you can't simply stealth. It's definitely not a Stealth game per say but just an aspect of its combat if it helps to think of it that way?

That being said, the further you advance, the more you have to rely on thinning them out. There are some tough-as-nails enemies that are basically tanks yet can be stealth-killed, which feels great.

The stealth aspect and movement is actually really fluid and flexible once you really learn let your grapple hook, jumps, ledge grabs etc. all work together with experience. You'll be zipping and jumping around avoiding large patches of enemies in no time if you want. The levels are really beautifully designed to always give you options from my experience so far.

And no, you have to scope the are out from vantage points. If you notice, there's usually always higher grounds. The icons only appear if they're alerted to show their level of alertness. Gladly, stealth is old school and very much tuned to having fun instead of realism so enemies aren't too smart for their own fucking good so you can easily shake them quickly if you have to. They also have quite a bit of tunnel vision.

Thing is once 2 or more enemies engage me in combat I get killed. @Bloodporne  That’s where I just get the hell out of there and start over.

Just remember getting out of dodge doesn't mean having to go sit in a corner and let shit cool off again. You're so mobile, you can just choose to maneuver around and single out a stray enemy after getting away from the mob attacking you and start fucking them up one on one again.

That being said, once you become adept at parrying, you'll be taking out mobs with parries and deathblows like a Samurai flick boss. Nearby other enemies are startled by deathblows like in old Samurai flicks so you have that second of downtime to re-focus and wait for the next incoming hit to parry and destroy the next guy etc.

Last night I had a mob of four base guys and two dogs on my ass and killed off all of them with parries instead of running and it was amazing. I couldn't believe I had gotten that good at that shit.

Just killed that big Drunken Samurai dude... would have been tough until I realized there was an NPC near there that would fight with you. After I took out all of the ADS and fought him with the NPC, he was easy. The NPC drew all of his aggro and I just backstabbed him to death.

So you stealthed him twice?  I was only able to do it once.  He's not too difficult though.  Now the next boss gave me trouble even after looking up how to beat it.

You actually can't stealth bosses twice. If you try to de-aggro them after one stealth hit, they go back to two full health bars.

Just got to General Tenzen.  Man, now this is a fun boss fight.  It's not super challenging and the flow of combat feels good and does a solid job of teaching you how to parry better so I keep letting myself die just to fight him again.  Makes me wish there was a way to replay bosses after you defeat them.

If you guys need strategy tips or anything, let me know, I'm still playing but pretty far into it by now.

I'm liking it so far. But to me this game feels rushed. It just doesn't seem like the passion went into it unlike the Souls games. I'm thinking this is most likely the result of Activision being involved...which is pretty freakin sad.

I completely disagree and don't see what's rushed about it. The level design especially is some of the best shit From's ever done in my opinion and the combat system, while utterly unforgiving, is tight as fuck.

I have my problems with it for sure, like I did with every Souls and Bloodborne, but I just can't see what's rushed about it. It's aesthetically gorgeous, the combat system is way fleshed out and tight and the level design shits on most games on the market. On top of that, the OST and sound design is brilliant.

The purple ninja that does the flying kicks? I haven't beaten him yet either.

Yep, the one in a cave entrance. His patterns arent even difficult.  It's just the camera gets all crazy when i'm back against a wall.

Literally use the same strat as against Lady Butterfly. Melts him.

Haven't gotten to her yet. I found him randomly by exploring.  he was on top of a burning building.

Did I wait too long to do Lady Butterfly? I was expecting to get my ass kicked and I beat her on my "first" (used up my revive) try. I actually left Ashina Castle pretty early because despite getting to the fiery place at the end where Old Man Grumps is wounded, I actually somehow missed him the first time (??? I have no idea if I was blind, if he wasn't there at the time, or what), went up to the tree grapple point, looked around, and assumed I'd be getting the key for the castle proper sometime later. After progressing far enough to get the Heart from Slithers McSnake and the Cave Flower, I finally decided to go back and check it out, which is where I noticed gramps.

I'm assuming if I had attempted to fight her when I came here originally, it probably would've been a much more difficult battle.

She can be first boss you fight, so kinda? It seems to me that people either do the horse dude or her first. She is harder than the horse dude, but only because of the higher damage. Her fight is very simple. Dodge, hit, dodge, hit. Your character basically turns into a cyclone with how much spinning you do it that fight. Well, at least for me.

But overall, LB is a chump. Video

You might have found the other one that's at a temple for a prosthetic tool.  He seemed easier to me but prob cause of more space?

Is there a way to stealth kill the chained ogre to take one of his health bars out before he sees you? I’m stuck.

Yes, definitely. Pretty much all mini-bosses I've come across so far can be de-aggro'd and stealth'd if the terrain allows. Here's what I did:

Spoiler

Take out the two guys in the arena as always, then start walking up the stairs towards Ogre and watch his suspicion meter fill. When it reached full yellow, he breaks free. When you see him starting to break free, run back out of the arena and hide. I used the broken wall next to the main entrance gate.

He'll march kind of 3/4 of the way down the stairs and look around, just be patient. He'll eventually de-aggro, turn around and walk back up the stairs. Now be quick, sprint behind him, let go of the sprint button when the deathblow dot appears and hammer him for a quick health bar down.

don't dodge, jump back or to the side instead.  His reach is stupid long where when you dodge you still get hit.

I don't think so as far as progression is concerned. She's essentially optional from what I can gather so far. The rewards are great of course but you can't really "cash in" one of them until a bit later.

I did the early bosses in the following order:

Spoiler

1. Dunkard

2. Horse Dude

3. Bull

4. Lady B

That seems like a pretty natural order to me skill-wise to be honest.

No. Use the flame barrel once to scare him, hack away. When you see the scare animation starting to go away, use the flame barrel a second to light him on fire and hack away. Rinse and repeat.

Good advice if you're a perfect player but if you die you'll have no coins to buy your ninja magic and will have to jump around hacking and slashing and dodging and grappling him after he whiffs throws.

it only costs 10 coins so just grind some money and then by the emblems

It's a lot of grinding for a boss that's like two steps from the save point and if you die a lot you'll be in a grind loop. You only get like 4 blasts which won't kill him. So man up and fight him, he's not that hard.
