A West Valley City, UT police officer killed a man inside the police department. It was his third shooting.

This is horrifying. I don’t want to hear any of that “suicide by cop” nonsense either. The fact that he wanted to die was all the more reason to bring in experts who could actually care for him. Sick.

Reminds me of this one night this lady refused to move off property and insisted an officer come. Then she begged the officer for a ticket because she claimed that someone stole her house or something like that. The ordeal took like 10 - 15 minutes because the officer really didn't want to give the lady a ticket.

The video is insane, not sure why I watched that. The guy was clearly heavily inebriated and mentally unstable and they seemingly did everything possible to make the situation worse. Expecting people in altered states to act logical and 'normal' is asinine and it always seems like cops somehow are the least qualified people on the planet to deal with those situations. Whip the impaired guy into a frenzy, then kill him because 'he asked for it' because he's in a frenzy.

This one reminds me of that guy that was completely wasted in a hotel corridor and wasn't able to follow the cops' orders due to it. They shot him to death as he was crying and begging for his life, literally while crawling and saying he doesn't know what they want, because he didn't follow their convoluted orders to a tee.

I watched the video. Clearly once the guy grabbed the officer's gun (apparently, it's hard to see), what else do you suspect. But the whole situation up to that point was irresponsible. Like the dude was handcuffed in a chair and very inebriated, what exactly did that officer plan on doing when he grabbed the guy

It never should have come to that point in the first place.

They searched him prior to bringing him in and knew he was unarmed. They knew there wasn't a gun in his shoe.

They thought he was going to do something with his shoe? What?

So why even attempt to take it, what purpose does it have?

"If we want different outcomes, which is not unreasonable for us to ask, then we need to change the law," Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill said.

Bad thing happens (which the bad actors actually believe to be a good thing):

  1. We can't do anything about this until we change the law
  2. We can't change the law, it would hamstring our police!
