For some reason I disliked that show. I never got into it.

It’s watchable. But it’s not my favorite and I don’t go out of my way to find it on like Seinfeld.

Interestingly enough my 82 year old mother loved it...

I do.  Not as many as I did say 10 years ago since people grow apart.

There's only so long you can remain close to someone when they're not part of your day to day life. I have two sisters I haven't spoken to in years. Not for any other reason other than they live on the east coast

Not any more. We got older but I never grew up, they did.

fixed for me

Also, I just stopped talking to them one day. ASMR came out and I was addicted. I'd rather listen to ASMR than talk to my friends. And no, this isn't anything on my friends. If there was ever and friend who was in the wrong it was prolly gonna be me. It is like that leaking boat thing. Where instead of patching the hole in the boat, I'm removing water with a Bucket. The bucket is ASMR and the ASMR bucket is a lot bigger than the friend bucket.

Is the whole "I play video games therefore I have no friends" thing still a thing in 2021?

I would guess this may have been spurred by this survey that started making the rounds indicating that many US adults don't have people they can trust  for help in their personal lives.

As for myself, I'm quite lucky in the friends I have. My closest group of friends are people I've known since elementary school, a few from high school, and a couple from college. I'm rather introverted, and I've never been good at making friends, but those friends I do make seem to stick around. My wife is pretty much the same way.

I've long wondered what factors most determine keeping friends for the long term, and how much of it is luck. My brothers, both good guys, both much more outgoing than I was, especially in middle school and high school, but neither has ended up with the same kind of close friend groups I have. Did I just happen upon the right people at the right times, or have I been doing something all these years to keep my friends around?

I'm very blessed with many friends. I have 3 BEST friends back home in Canada. One I have known for 25 years, another for 23 years, and one for 17 years. I feel very lucky. I consider them to be family and they have been incredibly kind and supportive to me my whole life, including now when I'm going through one of the top hardest times in my life. I also have some long distance friends who I have been friends with for a long time like OP and ny ny.

Beyond that I have some more casual friends/acquaintances both from where I'm from and places I'm not. I have a lot of people I consider friends and I'm very lucky. You know who is really there for you when things get rough and let's just say I have had an unbelievable amount of love and support recently both from people I expected it from and from people I didn't.

Friends rule.

I used to have a lot of friends but over time was burned by some of the closest ones I had which has made me tighten my circle. I have a lot of people I’m friendly with though, but I don’t count them as friends. Surface level stuff only. My wife is really my only friend in the most meaningful of senses, I’d say.

I mean I have "friends" at work too. I've actually hung out with someone from work, too. My life is work so I don't really engage with anyone outside of work. I probably could use some friends but I'm not built that way. Growing up as a twin I never had to make friends because I always had my best friend with me. That wasn't a good thing because I didn't develop normal social skills.

I think I handle myself extremely well socially at work. I'm very professional and very liked at my job.

Personally I have a pretty small friend group, however my partner has a lot of good friends who have become my friends more or less by proxy (and also because I like them). Her ability to form and foster such good friendships is one of the qualities I most love about her, especially since it’s an area in which I lack.

Being able to just meet someone and become friends with them immediately is an invaluable skill.

Shocking given what a miserable, hateful little shit you are.

I honestly think it's just an comedic persona he puts on in here. I'm sure he's a good dude. I can't blame you for saying what you did though. He comes off pretty harsh.

Is putting your wallet in your front pocket a thing? I only do that when I'm in places where I'm worried and being pickpocketed, like Bangkok or something.
