We've got a Democratic Governor, I'm just saying, either Sinema or Manchin could be made irrelevant.....

A quick Goolge search says NC Governor fills a Senate vacancy by picking from three candidates proposed by the former senator's party.

The press holding Republicans accountable for their actions? Why, that's not their job.

Counterpoint: if this is popular, which many parts are, I don't want a single republican to be able to claim they helped. Which is why it's so disappointing that rx drug negotiation isn't part of it

Counter-counterpoint: if it passes and is popular, Republicans will just claim credit for it anyways, and the media won't care.

The House progressives have blocked the vote on the infrastructure bill, insisting that the vote be held in tandem with the reconciliation framework:

Pelosi wanted to pass the infrastructure bill to give Biden a major policy win but ended up yanking the vote for the second time in 28 days.

You jabronis are making a mistake thinking the bills have to passed together.

It's on you if you can't tell how blatantly obvious it is that the insistence on infrastructure going first is so that they can walk away from the reconciliation deal.

All I know is that, the Democrats have wasted a lot of political capital the last 6 months on the reconciliation deal, only to have both that deal and infrastructure almost get scuttled.  They are on the verge of being just as dumb and ineffective as the GOP congress from 2016-2018.  I don't think they want to be compared to those losers!

I recently learned of (but not read) this book by a Holocaust survivor, on how to deal with shitty situations.  If you are struggling on a personal level, this might be a good read.

I've never read the book but when I came across this quote it just made me gasp and want to sit down.

Is the reticence to paid leave a cudgel at those with neet kids? Like single payer healthcare would bare so many wounds.

No, I don't think it's directed at those with NEET children, but rather it's part and parcel of the deranged "Protestant work ethic" that's the foundational myth of the United States.

I was going to say, they will claim it turned out so good because of their opposition. They’ve done it many times before.

You guys are fucking this up. I asked about the ACA.

This isn’t that. But let’s assume I asked about this. Senator wicker is in a safe seat anyway, but he was called out, as this article from the media states, by other reporters, which flies in the face of the media doesn’t care thing.

 Good grief. :p

That means admission that it’s good, not credit for its passage. Nobody associates the ACA with Republicans.

People associate the ACA with what they like and Obamacare with the Dems and what they don't like. (or are told they don't like aka socialism/government overreach)

Gonna need some receipts on this one. ACA has become more popular over time, and I haven’t seen anything indicating there’s been a shift with whom it’s associated.
