Well, given she wrote the screenplay that isn't a point in her favor but I also think that was probably a difficult movie for her to make good given producer/studio-type stuff, especially with a female director. She didn’t write an original script, she rewrote something that the studio had previously optioned. Honestly, probably worse than if she had just written something fresh! Definitely true but she is solely credited as the screenwriter (from a "story by" two other guys, which is what you're probably referencing) so she probably should have started fresh but when you are the sole credited screenwriter and director you are responsible for a lot of what we see on screen I'd say.
