I diet and exercise. Most male actors who get ripped, etc. for films and TV say that the way they get that look is 80% diet, 20% exercise, which also reflects my experience and results. There are really no tricks or secrets I've realized after dieting and exercising for the last 16 years. You just gotta change your lifestyle, and make it permanent.

So, answer: diet and exercise. If you need specifics in terms of what that means, I can always elaborate. And if one can't or won't exercise, diet aggressively, you'll at least get skinny and see some gains. And when I say diet, and for the last 16 years I've had people tell me I'm wrong yet it's always worked for me and those who do the same, dieting means barely eating. Yes, eat, but infrequently and during regular hours, and don't bother with meals. Just a small sandwich or whatever and water. It's all pretty simple/basic.

I eat delicious food every day. But I also make sure not to indulge every meal. And when you burn 1500+ calories running you can have your cake and eat 2 of them.

True, increased activity buys more calories in meals. If you're regularly doing athlete-level workouts then you can eat what you want, when you want. It's seems almost like a cruel system when you think about it, but C'est la vie

I wish I had time to run every day. It's the best high, when it's not cold as fuck out.

You burn 1500 in a single run? How long do you go for?

I try for one run a week that's at least 13 miles. Weather has been shit recently so my miles are way down, but normally I'll do a few 5 to 7 mile runs and then a 13 or more mile run on Sunday.

While I generally agree, the kind of food you put into your body still matters for other reasons, but you won't be fat at least. However, I would never suggest running for a cardio workout since over time it's hell on the legs and knees long term. Just look at most runners into old age (not to hate, just putting that out there). Lots of other ways to do cardio that doesn't stress your bones and joints as much.

But obviously run if it's working! :)

How do you track your calories? I have an elliptical (easier on the knees, and my dad has bad knees and I'm already starting to feel knee pain, although it's gone down in the last year as I've dropped 30 pounds) that has preset workouts, so I'll do the 500 calorie burn workout for example, although my Fitbit Versa 2 says I only burn 300, which I'm going to guess is more accurate since it's actually on my body even though I know those aren't 100% accurate either.

Why do you want to keep from being fat?

Is this a rhetorical question, or you asking why doesn't he want to be specifically? The two obvious reasons would be looks and health but I suppose it's a fair question.

I think she's specifically asking the OP.

I should mention I made this thread because I was bored and I actually weigh <150 pounds. I maintain that weight because I kind of actually hate eating. I was anorexic during college. Not because I was self conscious about my image, but because I was under so much stress that I kind of forgot to eat and then it became an issue of control. Eating became a chore that I had to get through to continue my day. While I have somewhat corrected on that front, I haven't fully. I fucking hate feeling full. I hate the sluggishness that comes with eating too much. I hate family gatherings where I'm expected to eat a lot. While I still like good food as much as the next person, I generally eat because I have to, not because I want to.

That's how I stay skinny. Honestly, I'm too skinny, but I've had a torn rotator cuff for the last 5 years, which has kind of hampered the ol' strength training.  But in general, I stay skinny because I don't take pleasure from eating.

I prefer to be overly active rather than diet restrictive. Thus the cycle of get fatter at winter and then get thin from about March continues. I’ve been putting more thought into my diet now though regarding portion size and I’m hoping if the UK gets Covid under control I can go to the gym pre-work, shower and then drive off next year.

What are benefits of being fat?

I wouldn’t call them benefits. More like perks. I can eat what I want, when I want, as much as I want. Now the downside to those perks are of course your health and the way you look. But I prefer to just not give a shit tbh.

You were not anorexic. Please don’t say you were. Anorexia is a serious and deadly condition with very specific diagnostic markers. Your stress and appetite issues are also a valid concern and I’m not not diminishing that! Just call it what it is, not another name for it.

Also if you’re legitimately creating this thread to “ask for a friend” and that wasn’t sarcasm, the answer is to leave your friend alone and never talk about their weight and appreciate them for who they are and not concern yourself with their body size.

It wasn't for a friend, I was just fucking around.

And if it wasn't anorexic, I don't know what you'd call it. It was a control and stress issue, not a body/image issue.

This is how I stay skinny as well. I also hate the feeling of feeling full, I hate over eating, etc. This is 100% me. Though I was never anorexic or anything - I love food. I just think most people over eat every day.

I absolutely hate feeling 'heavy'/sluggish and feeling stuffed. It feels depressing to me. I prefer smaller portions and lighter food despite also loving a great meal. I'll have my pig-out phases but usually I tend to keep it to reasonable portions. If I order a hero or something, I always save half for later etc.

If you don't eat it gives you that edge. #StayHungry

100%. I am very much in the "order a meal and save half for later" - unfortunately, my wife does not have my problem with food, so she ends up eating my half before I can get to it the next day or the day after. :p

But I do the exact same thing.

I can never understand the people who come into the place I work at during lunch, split some tots with someone, drink a beer or two, eat a 1/3lb. bacon cheeseburger with fries, and then presumably do things after that. I want to crawl in a whole and die if I eat that much food.
