More crimes are not being committed by the mentally ill in NYC - with one exception.

11 people out of 23.

Also from that article:

Quote

“People with mental illness are far more likely to be the victim of a violent crime than the perpetrator,” a city Department of Health spokeswoman said. “We should not conflate mental illness and crime.”

Come on.

  • SaysWho? changed the title to NYC Mayoral Elections, Primary is June 22

I have no idea how this is going to go. 13 Dems, 2 Reps, top two vote getters will run in November. I looked at endorsements for the candidates on Ballotpedia:

"Major endorsements include Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. for Adams. The New York Times, New York Daily News, and the New York League of Conservation Voters endorsed Garcia. McGuire was backed by Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) and state Sen. Leroy Comrie (D).[5][6]

The United Federation of Teachers endorsed Stringer. Following allegations of sexual misconduct, which Stringer denied, he lost endorsements from the Working Families Party and other groups. Wiley received endorsements from EMILY's List and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.). Yang was endorsed by the Captains Endowment Association and the New Era Democrats."

Rudy Giuliani endorsed Democrat Eric Adams.

Maya Wiley seems to be one that progressives are at least leaning toward, with Jamaal Bowman, AOC, and Elizabeth Warren endorsing her. Julian Castro did as well. Hakeem Jeffries supports Wiley, which had led to some leftists on Twitter wondering if they should "settle" for her since they're not fond of him.

Very curious how the results will play out, especially since we likely won't know them for a while considering the number of candidates and ranked voting.

Apparently the results won’t be known until sometime in July. Very cool system

This is an indictment of the NYC BOE, not RCV. There's a TON of dysfunctional shit at the NYC BOE and apparently it's largely a no-show jobs program.
