All the people reacting viscerally to this only have themselves to blame for not preparing themselves emotionally for this moment.

No other outcome was possible. Even with witnesses.

They voted for witnesses! Then the house impeachment managers said "nah we're good" and that was it! Had they not even voted for witnesses it would have been a more preferable outcome

I'm not angry about acquittal (although fuck that too), I'm angry about the Democrats being fucking cowards.

Witnesses would not have made a difference.

Don't get overly invested in the details. None of this ever mattered.

I never was under impression it would have mattered w.r.t conviction.

That the gop was so goddamn scared of getting witnesses should have been clue enough to keep going with it.

Of course he was going to get acquitted again, no one here had any doubts about that, but the fact that the Democrats just rolled over and gave up is infuriating. McConnell played them yet again by saying he should be impeached, but delaying the hearings until after Trump isn't in office, and then acquitting because Trump isn't president anymore.

That only 7 Republicans voted to convict on what is quite frankly an open and shut case for impeachment should tell krysten sinema and Joe manchin all they can say about peeling off still another three for any policy they may want to see happen

Joe Manchin is arguably the biggest buffoon in the Senate.

He thinks being the 50th vote with the filibuster gives him power, but it's precisely the opposite. Being the 50th vote *without* the filibuster is all that gives him a swing vote.

No, it's Sinema. Manchin will probably bend with the right pork bribe--unlike Sinema he's not signaling that he won't budge no matter what.

Bipartisanship is also more likely with a majority vote senate.

Hell, the original medicare program that LBJ was pushing for had a whip.count of 55 in favor. Once passage was inevitable, more senators jumped on

It's also important to note that this standard is one way--a democratic president doing a similar thing would have been convicted 100-0

Fuck this shit.  "Doctored evidence".  Every MAGA-chud now absolutely believes any evidence against Trump was doctored and is spreading this bullshit like wildfire on social media.

Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, fuck you. Also fuck the lawyers who did what little doctoring there was.  Why?  Why?  Why?  Absolutely no need to doctor the insanity that comes from the Trump organization.
