even if you (correctly imo) believe that conviction will not happen it's extremely important to get witness testimony under oath on video to counter the narrative that is developing out in the wild right now: that what trump did wasn't necessarily incitement, and the real villain here is the democrats who didn't call in the national guard

Why limit to just her? Makes no sense!

Legitimately curious—what’s to be gained by dragging this out?

We get testimony on the record.

It likely won't change the outcome, but we need this on the record for posterity.

And who knows?  Maybe we'll get lucky and get some criminal investigations out of it

From the BBC:

There was apparently a brief spat between two Republicans moments ago on the Senate floor.

Ron Johnson seemed to squabble with Mitt Romney, one of the five Republicans who voted in favour of witnesses earlier this morning.

Reporters in the room said they saw Johnson point at Romney and heard him say the words "blame you".

The back-and-forth between the two lawmakers was reportedly heated, with voices raised.

When asked by a pool reporter from The Hill about what was said, Johnson replied that "those are private conversations" and it was "grotesque" that the media was recording it.

Of course, as journalists on Twitter have been pointing out, their seemingly fiery discussion happened in a very public setting.

In addition to what @Commissar SFLUFAN said, that this is a political stunt that objectively looks bad to anyone outside the maga-sphere and I'm all for twisting the knife. I have a feeling the more details come out the worse this looks for Republicans

It's like a battered woman being asked to testify against their abusive partner by people that witnessed it happen and them being upset that someone dare make them admit publicly what everyone already knows to be true.
