I have to imagine that some in crowd that weren’t armed and didn’t have zip cuffs, were there for more peaceful protesting and putting pressure on elected officials to “do the right thing”. They didn’t chant to hurt or kill anyone.

I do think any people in the crowd that fit that should have not followed the crowd into the capital building when the armed and angry group started rushing in.

But those that did stay with the pack, I wonder how they would have reacted had the armed among them had been able to reach elected officials and their staff and began beating or executing them in a big public show of “taking their government back”. Would they step in to stop the systematic executions, spoke up against it, or even chose that time to leave after somebody like Pelosi or AOC was shot in head, decapitated, or hung.

We already have examples of exactly the opposite with the “Thank you, but fuck you” police officer’s story.

There absolutely were people in their with murderous intentions, but the vast majority of the people never even attempted to go inside the Capitol. They had dumb intentions, but not criminal intentions. You can even see a bit of this from some of the people who made it inside and then seem confused by what to do next and eventually begin leaving when people get shot. I don’t think most would have gone along with actual assassinations, but you don’t need that many people to over power a bunch of gray hairs and their young staffers.

But it’s actually this piece of the puzzle that made it all the more dangerous because the murder troop was blended in with the tourists.

It could have been unimaginably bad. Leaves me with such a gross feeling.

So... a lot of the violence against the Capitol police happened OUTSIDE the building. There's video of these "tourists" fucking up cops and they weren't IN the capitol at all. Once the windows started breaking and the battering rams came out, anyone with sense should have known to not go inside because things were getting waaaay too out of hand. I'm sure some DIDN'T go in but the ones that did havd PLENTY of indicators that entering into the capitol at that point was probably not gonna end "peacefully".

I’ve been in several situations like parties or gatherings where my friends and I instantly noped the fuck out when shit went pear shaped.  The fists start flying and we start backing away.  It’s not that fucking hard.  There are clear and obvious moments when things have gone too far for reasonable people, and that’s several fences and barricades away from breaking glass at the capitol.  Anyone who was in, or on the building can fuck right off.

This... I don't have a criminal record NOW because of the ability to recognize when a bad situation was about to turn stupid. We should at least hold these adults to the same standardw we hold drunken teenagers.

Anyone who was online knew this shit was gonna happen. I just assumed, naively apparently, that they would have national guard, riot police etc. The violent rhetoric on Parler was out in the open. You didn't need to be some leet hacker..

I mean like they knew about the nashville bomber, Boston bombers, etc. Had the info but apparently didn't do much to follow up!

"I just want people to know I'm a normal person. That I listen to my president who told me to go to the Capitol," Ryan told CBS 11.

Jenna Ryan, victim, feels wronged because she's losing her business and looking at prison time.

“I don’t feel a sense of shame or guilty from my heart. I feel like I was basically following my president. I was following what we were called to do. He asked us to fly there. He asked us to be there. So I was doing what he asked us to do,” Ryan said. “I do feel a little wronged in this situation because I’m a real estate agent and this has taken my company. This has taken my business. I am being slandered all over the internet, all over the world and all over the news and I’m just like a normal person.”

She should have heeded one of the lessons of the Nixon era; it's the people at the bottom that go to jail.

We're often reminded of the benefits of eating fresh food — both for us and the environment. But did you know the 'leave our food as natural as possible' idea started as a Nazi slogan?

From Hitler to present-day national socialists with YouTube cooking channels, the far right's anti-meat ideology runs surprisingly deep.
