if she isn't the dumbest person in congress, she's very much in the running

I'm not sure that she's the dumbest person... we're at least talking about her and not the treasonous acts committed by those people. :/

They investigated Hillary on Benghazi for years, bleeding right into the 2016 election four years later, for an event their reaction indicated was more the fault of Hillary than the actual terrorists.

Now we have domestic terrorists wanting to kill people in elected office and they're concerned it'll hurt them in the midterms.

Their party is such a broken piece of dogshit. Their concern should be that investigating domestic terrorism would hurt Republicans and why that is.

Also, Manchin says January 6th "changed" him.

If it actually did, and after Dems gave Republicans everything they wanted out of this bi-partisan commission, this should probably cue him into Republicans not being good-faith actors and abolishing the filibuster.

Either manchin gets jokerfied here or we are pretty much screwed, there won't be HR1/S1 or even a new civil rights act which he says he supports

Also have we all forgotten about the pipe bombs that were planted?

Nope. I was just talking to a friend about this just a few days ago. The FBI STILL doesn't know who planted those bombs.

“It was shocking when it was an actual bomb.”

You have a congressman who was pictured cowering behind a Capitol policeman who came out and said the insurrectionists were like a normal tourist visit.  The types of people who put MTG in office has them by the balls.

How do you all think events would have gone differently if the people entering had managed to kill a member of congress/senator? Or perhaps kidnap them for a while?

It would have been harder to muddle, but Republicans would still have argued it was the actions of a very few mentally disturbed individuals and that it was mostly just a peaceful protest.

I think the bigger game changer here would have been the pipe bombs going off. It doesn't matter if anyone would have died from them. The image of bombs going off would have been hard to brush off as over enthusiastic patriots.

"It's very unfortunate but we will never know why these disturbed individuals executed AOC and Mitt Romney live on Instagram while wearing full trump regalia, it is time to move on and forget this distributing chapter in our history ever happened"

Ha, disturbed individual is the go to. Just like right wing mass shooters.

Shooter: "I did this for right wing reasons, and here are the people whose Twitter and YouTube channels I followed every day: Ben Shapiro, Charlie Kirk, Donald Trump, QEagle 1488, Tucker Carlson"

Right wing: "🤷 no idea what could have influenced this disturbed individual, time to move on, don't publicize his name or why he did this"

"Nothing happened, but if it did it was Antifa."

By the way, all those Republicans who said the insurrection was actually Antifa, you'd think they'd want an investigation then. Unless they don't truly believe it was Antifa...hmm. Makes you think!

this guy is supposedly a gettable vote

He's a coward that will always vote party line.  He'll pay lip service to thinking about something, but won't go against Mitch McConnell.  He's out in two years and the people looking to replace him is a nut who tried to oust Sherrod Brown and the Hillbilly Elegy guy.

It's not that he won't go against Mitch McConnell, it's that McConnell is the guy they send out to take all the flak for them. Works a little bit less well when they're not in the majority and McConnell can't just kill things as Senate majority leader, but it's still enough for their voters.
