SimpleG
Currently running a 7700k at 4.8 and a 28080S , felling like my CPU is starting to hold me back. I am currently running 1440p at higher frame rate and would like to keep it that way. Maybe 5600x or 10600k would help any suggestions? Spork3245
I really don't think your 7700k is holding you back much, if at all, with the OC you have on it. If you do want to upgrade the CPU, the only one really worth going for would be a 5800x or 5900x for the PCIE 4.0 compatibility (and even then... it's not really worth the money it would cost, IMO). In fact, the only (performance) benefit with a 10700k over a 7700k is the base clock, two additional cores, and the the single-core performance being higher, however, with that OC, a 7700k is supposedly almost 1:1 with a 10700k (and would probably beat a 10600k). I believe you'd get more out of a GPU upgrade at this moment. For reference, I noticed virtually no improvement going from a 3700k to a 5960x and keeping the same GPU. Intel should be dropping their next chips this year, which may have DDR5 and possibly PCIE 5.0 support - I'd wait.
