Finishing up The Princes in the Tower by Alison Weir for my nonfiction.

For fiction, I'm bouncing between The House Across the Lake by Riley Sager, The Final Revival of Opal and Nev by Dawnie Walton, and The Road of Bones by Christopher Golden.

finally picked up a copy of Road of Bones the other week but haven't started it yet

It gives me the chills.

Because it’s so damn cold. :p

 it does have one of the coolest covers I've seen in a while. But so much for jumping into it. I just got a few new arcs, including Don't Fear the Reaper (sequel to My Heart is a Chainsaw) and I think that is going to take priority

I need to read My Heart is a Chainsaw. Bought it on a Kindle sale last year.

Currently trying to pick out my spooky October reads.

I’m reading Blood, Sweat, and Chrome, about the making of Mad Max: Fury Road. It’s mostly just a long version of one of those oral history articles, but it’s full of incredible quotes. I knew some of the broad strokes of the backstory, but the details are fascinating.

I finished book 7 of the Seige of Terra. It's Blood Angels focused so I decided to listen to Fear to Tread afterward. Pretty good idea since it's Oct and the book focuses on Chaos daemons. Decided to keep that spirit going by re-listening to Know No Fear.

Dan Abnett is a treasure. I might take a break from Warhammer and check out some of the history or socialist theory audiobooks I have in my backlog.

Finished up Russia by Antony Beevor. Gods, what a brutal time. I didn't realize it was as horrific as it was. At least not to that level of detail.

Finished it recently as well. My constant thought was: “what a miserable time to be alive”

Real life is pretty grim dark. Take Warhammer fantasy the Empire is the Holy Roman Empire during the early Reneisance. The only way to make that grim darker was to add Chao, Skaven, Orcs, beastmen, and vampires.

Listening to The Master of Mankind and trying to read With our Backs to the Wall. The cancer scare has made focusing a bit harder then normal and I tend to find myself surfing the internet even when the sites I visit have nothing interesting to offer. I need to make a mental note to force myself to read. I should try to use the kindle app on my phone.

I have a Dr appointment today so maybe it might be a good idea to take my laptop with me for reading.

About 600 pages into The Mirror and the Light and it’s compulsive. None of the trilogy have been easy going - but I am fully invested in this semi-real world of Henry XIII and Cromwell.

Though I’m looking forward to reading some children's books soon (Eragon, Boy at the Back of the Class, How to Train a Dragon, Inkheart) to keep up with what some of my pupils may progress to this year.

Finished The Mirror and the Light and now I feel like there’s a gulf in my life…great series. I read How to Train a Dragon in an evening and enjoyed it (though not world changing) and now thing out Inkheart. So far, interesting…but has similar vibes to Phillip Pullman, but that may be down to the translation.
