What do you want to do when we can start doing fun things again?

Recommended Posts

I've started listening to metal again during lockdown. Now all I want to do is go see a metal show. I haven't been to one in probably over a decade. I want to see a Sabaton show in Europe. Or I guess just concerts in general. I haven't been much of a concert person the last 5 years or so, just because I prefer to hang out in settings where I can casually sit and talk with my friends over drinks.

Speaking of which, casually sitting in a dimly lit bar with a jukebox and pool tables with my friends. A lot of my favorite bars have closed down permanently, though, and I bet you the ones that will take their places are going to be all "gastropub with elevated fare" bullshit. I fucking hate those places. I want carpeted floors, goddammit. And pinball. And seat cushions that are partially torn but the owner doesn't give a shit and they've been that way for a decade, but it's cool because you can get a shot and a beer for $6. :(

I also want to be able to smoke a cigarette while walking down the street without having to dodge people every 15 seconds so everyone remains safe (except me, I really need to quit. I am down to like 2 cigarettes a day, though).

Or, who knows... maybe we'll never be able to do anything fun again...

The number one thing I wanted to do was go to my chinese buffet but it closed down for go0d. I know it isn't anything grand but I loved getting a fuckton of cheap chinese chicken for 10 bucks.

To what extent has your lifestyle actually changed throughout the pandemic?

See a new movie in the theater once a week or so.
Live theater - I’ve really got into this in the last couple years (as much as I can afford, which isn’t much).
Take weekend trips to different cities, walking around trying different bars/restaurants.
Attend local meetups - I got into the groove of doing this a couple times a month last year. I was actually starting to cultivate something like a social life.

Just be able to do the normal shit I've always done without having to wear a mask(grocery shopping, the gym etc. . )

Also, it may sound crazy to some, but I actually miss going to the office.

I just want my pre-Covid normal back, that's all.

I have two roommates that are permanently working from home now. One of them loves it and decided to take a 3 month long climbing road trip and live out of his car, the other one absolutely hates it. Sounds like you're somewhere in the middle.

What's the fucking situation like in a house full of 8 people? Is there always fucking going on?

Surprisingly, no. There was a bit of fucking going on between one of my roommates and one who just moved out in September, but it never got weird.

It was also all dudes for almost the first year I lived here. Even though one guy is gay. Now it's 5 guys and 3 girls, one of the guys is gay, 1 of the girls is bi, and one of the girls kind of prefers to be non-binary.

But yeah, not a whole lot of fucking, surprisingly.

Go anywhere without a mask. And I mean ANYWHERE!

I do want that as well, but one thing that I've grown to like about having to wear masks everywhere is that I don't give a shit about shaving. My facial hair sucks.

Also, I chipped one of my front teeth in March and I still haven't had it fixed. Who gives a shit what my front teeth look like if no one ever sees my mouth. Except for my girlfriend, but she loves me for who I am on the inside.

I have pretty severe social anxiety. I'm going to legit miss wearing a mask everywhere. I've also learned how to smile with my eyes while saying fuck you under my breath.

I do have tickets to a few concerts that have yet to be rescheduled. I'm really looking forward to seeing The Pretty Reckless, whenever that happens.

I mean, you can still wear a mask everywhere if you want. I feel like it's not considered weird anymore.

I saw that Dragonforce is doing a tour with Unleash the Archers next spring, though it's all in the east coast/midwest. I want to see it, and I don't even really like power metal. It just sounds fun. That's assuming the tour isn't delayed again.

It's nice but my face gets irritated like after a week of not shaving so I still have to shave anyway.

Honestly, not much. I like my life and my wife and I are very happy with time away from the rat race. If I want anything, it's more social time for my children. They are "suffering" more in this situation than we are, though we all get along pretty well, so they are doing pretty good overall!

I want to be able to go to concerts and shows again. I had a whole bunch of stuff planed this past summer. Was going to go to AEW Double or Nothing in May. Bought tickets to go see Coheed and Cambria in August. I also miss going to gyms and dine in restaurants. I don't know how long it will be till I'm able to do all those things comfortably again.

  • Conventions.  GenCon, PAXU, Origins, HMGS, ComiCon...I miss all of them.
  • Quizzo.  We have a regular Wednesday night bar quizzo night we always attended with our friends.  It was a great way to break up the week.
  • Full on no-holds barred hashing without restrictions.
  • Going places not within "driving distance".  Like everyone, all my vacation plans this year were thrown out the window.  I miss travel.

I honestly can't wait to take my new girlfriend to the movies for the first time. Seems like such an intrinsic part of having a new partner for me.

You got a new new girlfriend or the one you've already mentioned before?

I don't know probably did? We've only officially been boyfriend/girlfriend for a few weeks now but were dating for about two months prior maybe? It just feels weird as fuck to have a, okay I'll phrase it like this, 'new' girlfriend and not get to do those fun early-relationship things like going to the movies, a proper night out and so on.

The lack of date nights is driving my girlfriend insane...The other day she said we should do something special like cook dinner together and watch a movie, and when I asked how we make that ‘special’ (since we do that all the time) I had my rights read to me. I definitely understand where she is coming from because patience isn’t her strongest quality, and pandemic monotony is real, but god damn do I need an assist.

The hot Spanish chick who lived in Canada or something? That's the one I'd be referring to. :p

Gladly we're still in that early phase where you constantly learn new things about each other so merely talking is still very exciting but still it's frustrating. It came up yesterday because we took a stroll in town and walked past the local AMC and I mentioned to her how weird it is to me that we haven't even gone to the movies together yet.

Eh no, those were separate people. Jesus, I definitely overshare haha...

No, no, the one moved back to Montreal after we met. Tried the long distance thing, it sucked and then Covid was the deathblow.

In hindsight and the state of the country, maybe you should have moved there instead. :p

PAX sounds so fun right now, and I haven't been in years.

Mmm, bar trivia. Yes, daddy.

My boyfriend took me on a “date” the other weekend. He packed a picnic for us and we went to a beautiful park by the lake. No shared surfaces to touch, and the distance between other people was more like 60 feet than 6 feet. It was pretty good.

and honestly yeah sometimes doing the same things you always do doesn’t feel special but if you say it’s a “date” and maybe dress nicer even though it’s at home or plan a special dessert or something then that makes it different. Sometimes just calling it a “date” even though it’s the same stuff makes it special in a way too.

Is that why she cheated on you and gave you herpes?
