Joe Biden beats Donald Trump, officially making Trump a one-term twice impeached, twice popular-vote losing president

I have heard it argued pretty convincingly that the Hunter stuff is a replay of the Russian op in France '17.

Hard to know the extent of it, but Guiliani and the guy have already been caught pretty clearly lying about the provenance of the information.

It sounds like there is some real info mixed in there, but that's what happened in France. They got ahold of real emails and then tried to mix in a few fake bombshells.

In a perfect world where everyone is a faithful actor I think it would be good for the Biden campaign to come out and clarify things. But in the world we live in, politically it makes no sense for Biden to do that. It would both give the story life, and ensnare the campaign into a line by line confirmation/denial of everything in the leak.

And here's the important thing. This is an example of where the media fucked up in 2016 and they seem to have largely learned from their mistake *gasp*.

This story followed the path of other fringe bullshit. As others have already said. It was so dubious either no one else wanted to publish it(Fox News, original Post author) or wasn't even looked at(most mainstream sources). So they laundered it through a rightwing source, and then it was on the "reporting on the reporting" story where Fox takes fringe shit and reports on the report and then mainstream  sources report on the reporting of the reporting(Qanon, anyone?).

What Trump and his minions are so frustrated about is that the mainstream media has actually shown some restraint and hasn't blown the reporting about the reporting and reporting about Biden not engaging with the reporting up like they did with Hillary. They have largely given it the attention that it's apparent validity calls for, wonder of wonders.

They want to spin it as the mainstream media "protecting" Biden, but the truth is, especially in the moment we are living in right now, they are doing exactly what 2016 told is they should do.

I am honestly torn on this.

My trauma from 2016 causes me literal physical discomfort when trying to post anything optimistic about this election.

But, objectively, Trump's path in 2016 was already razor thin and his path this year looks even thinner. From what I am seeing Trump's only path is to nab a state Biden is winning by +5 or more, be it PA, or some other even less likely state. Meanwhile there are 5 or 6 states that Biden is up in now by a tighter margin, but if he wins just one of them it all but automatically closes off any path for Trump.

That being said, I remember making a similar analysis in 2016, and then the dark times came. So I am just going to go and self-flagellate in the corner for a while....
