My mother suffers from this vile infection and is currently attending demonstrations and posting memes of Trump laughing at Biden with '4 MORE YEARS'. Several years ago we used to mock the shit out of Trump collectively in our family chat and well, here we are. I have no idea how the fuck they pulled this stunt on people's minds but from personal experience, it just rotted their sense of reality right out of their skulls.

After an election campaign built on attacking the reputation of his rival’s son, Donald Trump is facing calls for a new legal investigation into his activities in Ukraine where he and his associates

The Stories of our Times podcast has spoken to a Ukrainian businessman who has admitted, for the first time, that he was asked to lie about Hunter Biden’s business dealings to damage Joe Biden’s reputation. In return, he was promised a US visa and legal immunity.

Maybe I'm wrong in this, but I think of McConnell as a smart, if terrible person. His backing Trump's legal challenges now signals to me that McConnell expects Trump to continue to be the de facto party leader during the Biden admin.

I don't think that's exactly unexpected or wrong, but it's another nail in coffin of the long buried hope that the GOP would even slightly distance themselves from Trump after he left the White House.

The GOP is, and will continue to be Trump.

I heard a snippet of what he was saying on TV. The bit I heard was more like "Trump is entitled to do this if he wants to" than "I support this", which is still bad since he's not repudiating it but it sounded more like "he can do whatever he wants, I don't care".

Anything McConnell says over the next six weeks needs to be taken into context, which is that there are two runoff elections in a traditionally red state that just went blue. If Trump says ‘Fuck the GOP leadership’ (which he may very well do anyways!) then his ass is going to see Vice President Harris casting tie-breaking votes every week.

I'm pretty sure she would also give Democrats the technical majority, so McConnell couldn't do shit about blocking votes.

Yep.

Which is why if Nancy had her wits about her would be passing, again and again and again (like it's a republican effort at Obamacare repeal) a $15 minimum wage bill. It's popular and might be what can win the senate!

It's interesting that the original tweet makes no such claim, but you then buy into the conspiracy theory pulled from thin air.

The original tweet makes no such claim, so I wouldn't go that far yet. That said, the conspiracy theory only came up because Republicans said that's what they wanted to do before the election and then again after the election. It's not an out of thin air conspiracy theory if the GOP is publicly floating the idea and has been for weeks.

Yes why would the gerrymandered republican legislature want an investigation into something where there's been presented at no point by any party any actual evidence of fraud and is just a flimsy pretext for whatever undemocratic bullshit they have planned?

Why do some teams call timeouts when they can't actually come back at the end of a football game? Because they are sore losers, not because they are trying to change the outcome of the game.

The GOP isn't doing that though. Random talk radio person, or your aunt on FB isn't the party.

Look, man. I'm all for the first-amendment, I don't believe in any of that safe-space bullshit, and lord knows I'm not normally bothered by words as you may have seen from my many Blue Lives Matter Facebook posts talking about black-on-black violence, but don't you dare use the L-word around here! We are WINNERS! We will be referred to as such under any and all circumstances! Having a setback does not make your a l***r! It just means you're taking a little longer to win!
