  1. I knew I wanted to see it because I've loved everything I've seen from Anna DuVernay. I watched two episodes of this last night and goddamn, I was feeling emotions. I've never really known much about this case, aside from the basic facts. It just seems insane these boys were convicted by an actual diverse jury. Somewhat surprised no one has made mention of it on here that I've seen.
  2. It's not Charlie you son of a bitch!!! Watch this show!
  3. This is a bit of a hidden gem that my sister got me on to. It apparently aired on The CW in the US but I've been watching it on Netflix. It's about a girl who was working as a lawyer in New York and moves to West Covina, CA with the hope of getting back together with her former ex-boyfriend that she was with for two months at a summer camp when they were 16. It's a musical comedy that also has a lot to say on social issues, but it's primarily just damn funny. It can be surprisingly dark though. The trailer on YouTube doesn't really do it justice, I think, but here it is: It's been really loved by critics (it has a 98% on RottenTomatoes) but the viewership has apparently been astoundingly low. They just wrapped up their fourth and final season. It's really worth checking out for anyone who is looking for a new comedy with tons of heart and laughs. I'd recommend giving it a couple episodes to really give it a chance if anyone is interested.
  4. Nice spoiler free teaser. ---------------- I'm rewatching the series now to get ready. It's been a long time since I revisited either the books or the early seasons. I've rewatched an episode or two during the seasons, but that's about it. I'm now up to Episode 7, "You Win or You Die," and some things are really sticking out to me. The first thing I noticed is how cheap and small it all seems. The scale is just so much smaller, and even though the production quality is still quite good, it's immediately striking to see how much better they got at everything over the years. There's zero sense of scale in King's Landing in particular. I know this is a show that went from "expensive TV" to "the most expensive TV" to "summer tentpole" levels of budget, and you can see it on screen. I really don't miss all the sexposition. It's just terrible. Not the nudity, that's fine, if unnecessary. It just never feels natural. I can maybe buy Theon spilling his guts to a prostitute, but why the hell is Littlefinger telling a few new recruits his life story as he teaches them to be better whores? I'm glad the series slowly got over the need for this kinda thing. I'd forgotten how much happens in the early run. I remember that with season 1 in particular each episode was almost exactly another 10% on my kindle, and there's just so much plot happening. One of my favorite things in media is to see a world take shape, and season one does a pretty great job at that. There's so much to introduce, and by and large the writing in season one does an excellent job of it. Not only that, but there are so many great lines (mostly verbatim from the book) that continue to resonate in the show and throughout popular culture. Anyone else hyped for season 8 and revisiting any of the show or books?
  5. You have to see this, the last 3rd had me laughing nonstop, it hurt from laughing. I don't know why, nothing in stand up quite hit me like that before. Esther, the cheese
  6. Good episode tonight. I loved having Ralph just run down the list of plotholes from the previous four seasons. I know that good season premiers for the Arrowverse shows haven't really been a predictor of a good season, but given that Kreisberg's harassment was apparently causing a huge amount of churn in the writers' room, hopefully they can actually do a good season this year. Flash season 4 and Supergirl season 3 only went off the rails in the second half, which is after he was fired, so I'm guessing that when he was fired he took the knowledge of what the plans for the season were with him (and if you notice, Flash went MORE off the rails than Supergirl did, and Kreisberg was more heavily involved with Flash).
  7. Did anybody else here watch the series finale? With that ending it's definitely disappointing not getting season 4 but maybe they could do a movie?

  9. God I hope that Quick Silver method comes into take out that Okinawa cancer karate, lol
  10. Name some series that nailed the landing when ending their runs, some that didn't quite make it, and some that shit the bed. I'll start off NAILED IT Six Feet Under The Wire Breaking Bad The Shield Mad Men Spartacus DIDN'T QUITE MAKE IT The Sopranos Battlestar Galactica The Office SHIT THE BED Lost Penny Dreadful (Great series but the last couple of episodes damn near ruin the whole series) That's all I got so far... I'll see if I can think of some more.
  11. From Darkhorizons Disney+ Plans A “Willow” Sequel Series Previously Howard says a follow-up would likely follow Elora Danan, the grown-up infant princess whom Jean Marsh’s Queen Bavmorda was trying to destroy, and has now confirmed it will be a continuation. However Warwick Davis’ Willow is returning, Howard saying: “Warwick will be in it. Warwick is so cool and so good and he’s such a good actor that I really hope we get the chance to see the mature Willow in action.” Could be fun if done with love ala "Cobra Kai" and not hate ala... well, you know
  12. May 1st, 1999, Spongebob was introduced to the world.
  13. Woo what a wait that was for season 2. I was afraid with all the turmoil surrounding the show the quality would really drop off but I loved the first episode. I think to the benefit of non book readers they’re continuing to be more clear in the direction of the show which was a little muddled through most of season 1. We’ve got clear motivations and goals now. And the performances across the board for all the Gods is outstanding. Can’t wait for the rest of the season.
  14. Anyone else watching Barry? I thought season 1 was very good, and season 2 is pretty great as well. Last night's episode was amazing. It was this crazy surreal shenanigans that really was the best example of it's particular blend of slapstick dark comedy. Really just an incredibly entertaining episode of television.
