  1. I didn't realize they had anything coming up.
  2. Digital Foundry seems to think so. I saw this game literally 2 days ago on the store and thought it looked vaguely interesting but a little too much like your typical mobile-inspired voxel game. A few seconds of footage from this video (I have not watched it further than that) were enough to convince me to give the game a shot.
  3. Hello to the dozen of us left... Anyways since the 3DS has cooled off a lot for most I though I would jump start the community thread again like we use to have on the handheld boards for those of us who wish to talk about 3DS stuff that might not warrant a full topic of it's own. There is still some decent life left in the 3DS with still a few notable titles on the way (Luigi's Mansion, Etrian Odyssey Nexus and Persona Q2). @GameDadGrant @CastlevaniaNut18 So anyways to kick off the thread, I would like to celebrate with showing off my 37th 3DS/1st n2DS.... It's amazing to look at in person. I was talking to GameDadGrant over PM about it since he also got one and we use to talk about n2ds LE in the old thread. Normally I don't open these but I couldn't help my self with this one.
  4. I’m amazed at how expensive the joycon is. Even looking at BF sales, it looks like the best it will be is 60 bux. It looks like most MP games are geared towards splitting the joycon and each player gets a half. So maybe games where there are 3 or more? maybe for smash?
  5. Team 17 is one of the best publishers on Switch. Here are some of the highlights that are on sale: Yoku's Island Express - A freaking masterpiece of elegance in level/world design. Pinball Metroidvania Perfection. Worms WMD - Easily one of the most robust multiplayer games on Switch. Hotseat Play, LAN Play, Online... classic Worms gameplay, endless customization, random level generation, vehicles, crafting, 6-player support, teams, AI bots, 1080p/60fps, tons of unlockables, free DLC and substantial updates, a freaking Rocket League car... hell, it even has a slew of single-player challenges. What more could you possibly want?! Yooka-Laylee - The first game was decent, and the new 2D platformer looks amazing! Best of all, Playtonic puts REAL effort into their Switch ports. Overcooked - A fixture on the top seller charts, for good reason. It's a co-op classic. Perfect for Switch! Blasphemous - Haven't played it yet, but I will. It looks awesome. A gruesome take on Castlevania. Automachef - Looks like a super-fun puzzler. The Escapists - Intriguing, but haven't tried. There are many more, but give 'em a look on the eShop!
  6. I have to say I am looking forward to trying this one out. I've always loved the quirky things Nintendo comes out with.
  7. http://www.ign.com/articles/2018/08/20/grandia-and-grandia-ii-coming-to-switch-in-hd-remaster It's about fuggin' time we got an HD remaster of series that needed/deserved an HD remaster. While I really wish they'd get off of the Japanese circle-jerk and bring it to my Xbox, at least I'll have something to play on my Switch that I didn't already own on Wii U. Can't wait to see that premium Nintendo MSRP!
  8. https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2019-the-witcher-3-switch-tech-analysis Docked: 720p is the highest we've seen the game render at while docked, dropping to 960x540 in our tests at lowest, seen while panning past the city in Toussaint. Portable: Handheld play works the same way as docked - a dynamic pixel count that adjusts based on load. Here Switch uses 960x540 as the top number, but drops steeply where it needs to. Pick a busy street in Novigrad for example, and the lowest reading comes in at just 810x456 NPCs are drawn at half frame rate at distance: their draw distance is compromised on Switch, but the rendering range on NPCs is generous enough to cram everyone in. The only snag is that the frame-rate on characters is halved towards the distance. Pop in issues: Beyond the inevitable blurriness, there are further downsides. The first is pop-in; often it's well-handled, but Switch has limits in how quickly it can draw everything in. The big trouble spot is cut-scenes; fast camera cuts overwhelm the system, and the way geometry flickers in and out can be pretty glaring. Detail-rich areas such as Novigrad can also push the streaming systems hard, resulting in pop-in that varies on repeat tests. Textures, filtering and sound quality also take a hit: The Witcher 3's drive for compression also has an impact beyond FMV quality. Textures and sound also take a hit. Texture assets and filtering are of a notably lower quality, where a form of trilinear filtering is used which adds to the generally blurry look Foliage density compared to PS4: There are few surprises in terms of console comparisons. Beyond the resolution drop, shadows, textures, and LODs are altered. Panning around the outskirts of Novigrad, foliage density is pruned back significantly. It's all reined in, creating a generally less filled out world - at a distance anyway - on Switch. It's amazing what's achieved on a smaller, less powerful system, but the trade-off to make it happen can't be overlooked. Docked performance: And while there are some notable dips, the bulk of the time in areas like Velen - at least outside towns - delivers a mostly solid 30fps. Docked play is solid, but dense areas like Novigrad will see performance drop to something closer to 20fps. Portable performance: Portable play is similar, but not quite as robust overall. Once again, we're looking at 30fps, but when taxed in stress points it'll go into the 20s ArsTechnica -- “The Switcher” is real: Witcher 3 on Switch is a blurry, tolerable compromise tl;dr: If you're looking for a mobile version of TW3, this is actually fantastic as it plays at a pretty stable 30fps and works. If you have any other option, it's pointless at docked because it'll look blurry, messy and antiquated.

  10. While always being aware of the series and playing bits and pieces of different games, Breath of the Wild is the first Zelda game that I experienced in its entirety. I recently also finished Link's Awakening, and I really enjoyed it as well (some confusion about certain puzzles notwithstanding). I now feel like I have a pretty good handle on the language of these games, and would love to play some of the other entries. Here are the other Zelda games that I have: Link to the Past (SNES Classic/Switch) Ocarina of Time (N64) Wind Waker HD (Wii U) Twilight Princess HD (Wii U) Skyward Sword (Wii) Where should I start? I've played a good portion of Wind Waker several years ago and really liked it, but dropped it for something else at the time. Is there a game that I should play first to acclimate me to the others?

  12. I set up an account for me on both of my boys switches so that I can log in and buy stuff for them. Wanted their accounts to be offline for the time being as they are younger...Anyways, whenever I log in with my account and buy games the switch does a check to see if they can play it and then it prompts their accounts to log in and purchase the game. I've read online that this shouldn't be the case that they should be able to play whatever games are on the switch. Any ideas on how to fix this? Also, can I buy a game once and then download it on to both switches? I bought two copies of games so far as I couldn't figure this part out.

  14. I picked up the variety kit for my son. I believe Amazon had it but they seem to be sold out. Best Buy is still shipping them for now, might change later to in store only when they run out. 17. Planescape Torment... Icewind Dale... I cannot get any harder. Growing up, my dad used to always tell me to 'go get him a Switch'. Sure, the beatings that followed were pretty severe, but now I know he was just teaching me a lesson for this point in life... that through pain brings pleasure. Nintendo. Fuck ya!
  18. And you're going to just gobble it up... Ain't ya? Yeah. We're going to gobble that right up.
