  1. Just a quick hello, shit has really hit the fan for me and my family. Bear with me. I find out out Wednesday night my son has a stage 4 brain stem tumor, FUCK!! My wife and I have been driving 4 hours a day for an entire week to go through the testing with him Bamm Thursday, he gets released to come do treatment in the hospital where my wife works and we life. Find out that night that's it is stage 4 inoperable. He asks if he can come down and stay a day, sure......and here the real kicker. On TV a warning Paradice California is being evacuated! Where my wife works where the treatment was to be. 20 minutes later my kid daughter is at my house and my wife and her jump in the car to paradise and grab cat and some stuff, FUCK, there to be right back. 3 hours later I realize the stuck in the middle of the paradise blaze. I lose power and cell services! No one saying evacuate magalia where we live, but 3 hour of waiting, I realize were fucked. I grab one computer. My dog 2 hand fills of clothes a few stupid shit and jump in truck. At this time I'm in line with a direction away from where my mife went. 5hours later I make it the 13 Mile's to chico and call wife on a stranger's phone, ok where all ok, about 2 more hours apart. We spend night in my truck behind all the first responders, and the start getting news. Paradise California is a complete loss, so is lower magalia where we live. I'm homeless and jobless and so is my daughter and all my friends. What the fuck just happened. Fastest moving wildfire in California in history, moving 80 football fields a minute. We literally have nothing. Nothing. It's hard, because we had everything, life was perfect. Dont blink gamers / friends. Hold on to what and whom you love. Dont let go!

  6. What is a difficult portion or rage inducing part of a game in modern gaming for you? I thought of this due to me restarting the career mode in WWE2k18. When I bought the game at launch last year I went straight into the story mode and I played the role of the good guy which put me in the number one spot (out of 30) to enter the Royal Rumble . Would make for a great defining moment in the story's progression if 2k games didn't make it FREAKING impossible to complete. I tired my best not to rage out and toss/break anything. Luckily I didn't but after a number of times, the most I could get to was the 16th entrant and my character would just be too exhausted to continue and also the AI tends to focus on you probably more than it should making it even worse. Adding insult to injury, by the time you get to the Royal Rumble, ones character is still weakly developed at this point in the story as a newcomer. Many players have not gotten past that portion of the game judging by various forums I've visited. 2k got a complaint from each week for months about it. Anyway I decided to fire up the game last week, make a new character and try to be on the side of the management to get a better entry number which was 27. Excellent! Wrong!!!!!!!! Not only do I have to win which is relatively doable but I have to get a 4 star rating which makes it dangerous and hard as hell to still complete. This was probably the first time in years I've spent hours on one damn portion of a game cause I came so close to beating it and my mind just could not accept defeat because I feel I am damn fucking good at wrestling games as I have been since the NES days. After 3 hours, I finally did it. Even though I did it, that portion was ridiculously stupid hard especially when I play these games for the story mode than anything nowadays. Do you have a modern game portion or just a game that just drove you crazy?
  7. Unlike certain movies that will make money in spite of reviews, is there the equivalent in the videogame world? The closest series i can think of is COD? Maybe Madden? Reviews in Videogames definitely impact sales and with the scores I'm seeing for Anthem, they would HAVE to miss their sales targets right?
  8. One such player is a 23-year-old who goes by Arslan Ash. He’s a Tekken 7 competitor from Pakistan who went to great lengths just to attend Evo Japan. In a post-tournament interview with ESPN Esports, Arslan described his trip as “very difficult,” due in part to the laborious process of receiving a Japanese visa as a Pakistani citizen. Once that was settled, traveling from his home of Lahore, Pakistan to Fukuoka, Japan took Arslan five flights in total over two and a half days. After numerous delays and setbacks, including a snafu with a flight from Malaysia to South Korea and a Japanese airport’s refusal to exchange his Pakistani rupees for yen, Arslan was finally able to make it to Evo Japan, heading straight to the venue after arriving in Fukuoka with only an hour to spare before Tekken 7 pools started on Saturday. https://kotaku.com/tekken-7-player-comes-out-of-nowhere-with-evo-japan-win-1832762445

  10. This was posted in the Odyssey thread, but I think it deserves it's own discussion. Google has announced that they will start testing their long rumored game streaming service, currently called "Project Stream." You can sign up here, and if selected you will be able to play Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey for free, streamed to your Chrome browser until January. The demo video on their page shows the game being played at 1080p 60fps. I've said it before and I still think it's true that game streaming is the future. If the latency is good enough and if the computing is cheap enough (and those are both big ifs), Google could really open the floodgates. The rumored MS service likely wouldn't be far behind and I'd have to imagine that Amazon would be in there right quick. Oddly enough, the low resolution, underpowered Switch would in many ways be an ideal platform for game streaming, but there's zero chance that Nintendo could pull that off anytime soon. Part of the sign up process is your zip code, so I have to imagine that this is only going to be available to people within a certain radius of whatever datacenters Google is running this test out of. If something like this is going to suitably work, it's almost certainly going to need a distributed architecture, and Google is quite good at that. I think it's fair to be skeptical, but this could be the game streaming service that actually takes the idea mainstream.
  11. 343 Industries Boss Bonnie Ross on Her Long Career at Microsoft and Avoiding Crunch on Halo Infinite The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences' latest Hall of Fame inductee chats with us at DICE Summit about her career and 343's future. The Amy Hennig Interview: On What Changed With Uncharted 4, Leaving EA, and What's Next Amy Hennig always speaks her mind. At the DICE Summit in Las Vegas, Nevada last week, the first thing that came to the former Uncharted and Legacy of Kain series director when asked about the development of Michael Jordan: Chaos in the Windy City in the early '90s was that "there was a lot of cocaine at EA during that time. I wasn't indulging in any of it."

  13. How Viktor Antonov turned from building cities to planets The games you know him for are bounded and largely linear. Every tiny detail has been touched by a human hand in Half-Life 2's City 17 or Dishonored's Dunwall, striking virtual places which Antonov has helped colour with particular social histories and inscribed with visual techniques that quietly guide the player to the next checkpoint. That's also true of other games that he's been involved with over the past few years, such as Wolfenstein: The New Order, Prey and Doom, on which Antonov acted as visual design director.
