General Gaming LTTP Ass. Creed Origins

I finished the main campaign in Origins last night and loved every minute of it. I loved the story, the gameplay was top notch and the missions never got old or boring to me. I still have a TON of stuff left to do in the game but I'm also eager to jump into Odyssey. What's funny is, I've never played an Ass. Creed game before, despite owning several of them. I look forward to playing through the entire series as I am now very intrigued by the Lore of the game world. For you series vets, How would you rank the series to date include Origins and Odyssey?
  2. Preloading now. The preload is live for EA Access, Origin Access, and Access Premier. If you have EA/Origin Access you get a 10 hour trial starting on Friday. I heard Premier will get keys to give out to friends so if that is true I will provide some keys.

  4. Yo. I'm compiling GOTY awards from media outlets (getting plenty of help from this blog, definitely visit to give them some hits), and I'm going to do a big D1P GOTY thing for 2018. The games HAD to have been released in 2018. Voting will end January 31st, 11:59PM ET. This will give people the time to finish playing games that came out this fall, catch up on what they missed earlier this year, and just let time pass to get over the 'new' smell of the fall games. It's not perfect since none of us played everything, but it can't ever be perfect, so whatever. Rank your games like this: 1. Game A : 4 points 2. Game B : 3 points 3. Game C : 3 points 4. Game D : 2 points 5. Game E : 2 points 6. Game F : 2 points 7. Game G : 1 point 8. Game H : 1 point 9. Game I : 1 point 10. Game J : 1 point You can change the order as many times as you want until the deadline. I'll tally up all the points and make a 2018 GOTY thread in February.
  5. I assume, perhaps incorrectly, that we all make game lists from time to time? Here is a terrible cut and paste from my google drive of the games I plan to get for 2019, assuming they don't slide to 2020. What's on your radar this year? Crackdown III - Feb 15 Far Cry: New Dawn - Feb 15 Metro Exodus -Feb 15 Anthem - Feb 22 Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - March 22 Outward - Feb 12 The Division 2 - March 15 (PS4) Days Gone - April 26 Rage 2 - May 14 Bio Mutant - “Summer” Greedfall- Q1/Q2 Encased - Q1 ES: Blades - iOS Hellpoint - July Shenmue 3 - August 27 Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries - Sept 10 Code Vien - Sept 28 MonoMyth (kingsfield clone!) - Q4 Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order - Q4 “holiday 2019” Nioh 2 -??? Doom Eternal - ??? Generation Zero - ??? Witchfire - ??? Dungeonhaven - Souls like game-??? Dolmen - ??? PS4) Ghost of tsushima - ??? The Surge 2 - ??? The Outer Worlds -RPG from Obsidian - ??? Control - remedy - ??? Gears of War 5 - ??? Gears Tactics - ???
  6. Didn't see this posted anywhere so I thought I'd share. Some new stuff in here I've never seen before. Still high on my most anticipated list.

  8. Pillars of Eternity 2 is going turn-based, eight months after launch Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire players are no strangers to choice. But when you boot up the game from January 24th onwards, your first decision will come even before character creation – real-time or turn-based?

  10. I follow a bunch of computer game reviewers on Youtube, which as you may all know is it's own circle of hell once you've experienced it in all of its glory. But one thing I've started to notice is that a lot of conservative game reviewers claim that there's a certain bias to reviews that is basically pro-liberal (or the infamous term of SJW). One of the reviewers I really like is one of those, and he's been going through a huge battle with those on the opposite side of the political spectrum as he argues that they shouldn't be arguing against him because he's just reviewing about games without bias and...well, you get the idea that it leads into a whole backlash sort of things that goes kind of nuts. Personally, I like the reviewer, but I'm not sure I buy his argument that game reviews are all SJW types of reviews. Am I just not seeing this? Okay, sound ground rules, at least: Let's avoid arguing about the political bent of reviews (which goes down a cesspool of ridiculousness), but I'm curious if people here are actually finding reviews to be more political than just straight out reviews. I haven't really seen this, unless perhaps this is something that's mainly reflective in Youtube reviewers (and I've not seen this because I'm just not subscribing to those types of reviewers). I get most of my reviews from published sites (or magazines), so I kind of wonder if there's a political bent that only happens in interactive media. I do see a lot of that in the comments sections, but I've come to realize that you get a lot of junk in that kind of stuff, so I generally don't read too much of that. Your thoughts? (Keep in mind, I thought about putting this in the CEB part of the boards, but that area is mainly about actual politics and this actually involves gaming.)

General Gaming What are you playing today?

This can be the new "what are you playing this weekend" thread. Lately, I've been completely absorbed in Persona 5. It's amazing. I played 10 hours when it first released, quit for over a year, now I'm back at it, hardcore. Just completed the 4th palace last night. I absolutely adore the mix of traditional turn-based RPG play and social simulation. I'm over 40 hours in and still have a looong way to go, but I'm enjoying the ride quite a bit.

  13. It's all about whether your boyfriend should play the game, but really, they're cleverly just comedy reviews from a girl who clearly plays all these games. I can only say these exploded recently and are very well-written. Kudos to the creator!
