It’s also interesting that IGN didn’t mention VRR on series X if it helped the feel of the game to smooth out those dips. Whether it felt like it did anything or you couldn’t tell at all.
But in their video it appears the PS5 looks better than the series X. Though maybe they have the same Tv Best does.
The Fextralife guy said he thought it looked and was running better on the PS5 as well.
Sony. Da. Best.

Fextralife, which has become my go to for RPGs, said the game really didn’t start to click till between 20/30 hours and that it wasn’t until the endgame that it really starts to shine. He did love the game btw.
Those are two pretty massive red flag deal breakers for me.
That being said, I’m off from work next week 👀

The Boy and the Heron is a great choice obviously but man did I really really want Nimona to win.
Ryan Gosling stole the night. The performance of Ken was incredible and his back and forth with Emily Blunt was easily the funniest banter. Runner up to John Mulanney 😂

only caught the last few minutes. WTF was up with Pacino just announcing the winner without listing the nominations? Also glad to hear Godzilla won.
They did that with best Song too. I think it’s because each film nominated was featured throughout the show(each song was performed) so that stood in for reading off 10 names.
It was weird how he just blurted it out though.

He did? When?
11 years ago. It was probably his willingness to go away from the core portrayal of Superman that made it great. Since Superman sucks and the only time in history he was ever interesting or anyone cared was when they killed him off. -

That short paragraph I quoted shows that he really didn't "get"these characters beyond a surface, superficial way at all. He says a lot of other wrong stuff in the article which is an excerpt from an interview he did with Joe Rogan, but yeah. I like Snyder, he seems like a decent guy but MAN.
And yet he still managed to make the best Superman movie of all time 👀- 2

I know that Villeneuve doesn't believe in director's cuts, and I do understand since at this point he has almost full creative control of his films (and should forever). However, while I understand not releasing DCs of Part 1 and Part 2...I do think it would be very cool to release a DC of them combined, especially including some stuff we know was cut. If you no longer have to worry about pacing in the traditional sense, adding another 10-20 minutes wouldn't be a huge deal for a 5.5-hour movie.
Im not sure if we ever got any kind of confirmation of what scenes were shot and cut in the first one. Did he actually film the banquet and then cut it? But we know Tim Blake shot his scenes as Count Fenring. Would be a crime to never get to see that. -
Just got back from seeing it a second time. This thing is such a
masterpiece. Couple things that stood out that hit me harder on the second watch. Paul/Chani’s “theme”. God what a beautifully powerful piece of music that is. And thinking ahead to Dune Messiah, it really embodies their whole relationship so well.
Soeaking of Dune Messiah.
SpoilerThe foreshadowing between Chani and the Princess in that final scene. The standout being the scene when everyone kneels except the two of them and you have the shot from behind Chani of Paul and the Princess standing next to each other. Cut to the Princess eyeing Chani and knowing what she’s up against there. So damn perfect.
And somehow the War Council is even better and more powerful the second time? I got watch that scene on a loop for hours.
Please for the love of god give us a single cut extended edition of these movies together. I’ll never ask for anything ever again.

I couldn’t tell if the stuttering was an artistic choice or the frame rate was just awful throughout

Just got tickets to see it again Saturday 😎

What could I possibly add to what has been said already other than I was utterly engrossed and captivated for its entirety! I've rarely experienced nearly three hours simply melt away like that in any form of entertainment medium! This film is truly one of the pinnacles of visual/auditory filmmaking for which only the movie theater experience can truly satisfy!
While the film certainly ends relatively conclusively, there's little doubt that the stage is set for Part 3 (Dune Messiah) should the powers-that-be grant Denis his wish, especially with the foreshadowing of Paul's dark future. Also,
The film's (apparently) significant deviation from the book's ending involving Chani's relationship with Paul is something that I'm curious as to its resolution in Part 3.
Funny you should mention that.
SpoilerWalking out I said to my wife that I didn’t remember Chani being so much of a moral compass for Paul nor did I remember him coming off so dark. You were absolutely rooting for his revenge in the book.
Then yesterday I saw an interview with Denis where he said Herbert is in record as being disappointed with people’s initial reaction to Paul seeing him as a hero. He was definitely intended to be an anti-hero. Which he corrects with how Paul is portrayed in Dune Messiah. So Denis said with that prior knowledge he wanted to kinda fix that in the films. So he brings forward that relationship and their portrayals from Messiah to make it more clear in Dune.
Honestly I think that choice works brilliantly.

Think I might go see this again. A few moments have stuck with me and I need to see them again:
- Worm riding
- War council
- Final scene
Pauls entrance to the war council has stuck with me big time -
I have no issue saying that this was by far the greatest audio experience I’ve ever had in a theater.

I take it there's no way to understand this without seeing the first? My friend would like to see it with us, and we can't for two weeks due to scheduling/vacation, but I'd be interested in seeing it with him.
But we haven't watched Part 1, which I feel would be incredibly important.
Haha yeah this movie is pretty much the last third of the book. It’s one continuous story so you’d be pretty lost. -
You’re right, Bardem was an absolute stand out star. Everything Chalamet does from the time Paul goes south through the end of the movie is absolutely incredible. Rebecca Ferguson’s descent also can’t be ignored. Honestly there’s not a single performance that falls below outstanding. Everything from the arrival from the South onward I basically sat there thinking “this is far and away the most epic shit I’ve ever seen in my life”. Anyone mad they didn’t get badass Luke in Last Jedi is gonna love this shit 😂
Seriously I could go on forever. The cinematography on Geidi Prime, the duel, THAT ARRIVAL during the battle 😳.
First movie I’ve seen in a long time with applause from the audience, first one I immediately wanted to buy another ticket too and see it again. Give me extended editions released as single cut I’m more than happy sitting for 7/8 hours watching this story unfold.

Sure, I’m good with all that. Bring it on.

Just got back the theater. 1 million out of 10. Fucking flawless. No notes.
Im exhausted so im not gonna get into a full spoiler filled review on the finer details of the story and their choices on how the adapted it. I’ll just say it fucking works, all of it. This feels a little like LotR in that there are some pretty major things left out but you don’t miss them and the feeling and themes are all there. I’m excited to talk about it once people start seeing it.
For the love of god see this in the best theater possible with the best SOUND system possible. Those subwoofers in the seats were working overtime.
Amazing

Watched the first episode. Other than being convinced the English guy was Logan Marshall-Green for almost the entire show, that was FANTASTIC

Reading through that list of movies it dawned on me that I think I generally like pretty much everything Costner does. Even Waterworld and The Postman are guilty pleasures haha. He’s like a lesser Tom Cruise haha.
