  1. Large gaming outlet PC Games actually put out a good video regarding the lack of Forspoken review codes for some big outlets. It's in German but the auto-subtitles work perfectly fine. It's an interesting watch regarding black lists etc.
  2. What in the everloving fuck am I READING!? No wonder your shits are possessed by Pazuzu.
  3. I keep overlooking the fact this is coming out next week somehow...it's in the damn title. Pretty sure this is some Day 1 action for me unless it Callisto's itself.
  4. Holy shit I just realized Dee Dee and Johnny Ramone had Byrds haircuts.
  5. Poltergeist - 9/10 I've been meaning to revisit Poltergeist for ages and finally got around to it. I know it was directed by Tobe Hooper but Spielberg was involved and it absolutely has that Spielberg/Amblin "magic" for me. It knows exactly what it is, what it wants to be and executes it at the highest level possible. It's gorgeously shot, beautifully constructed and has incredibly endearing performances by the whole cast. Much like Ghostbusters, this movie almost feels like an intrinsic part of my childhood and yet I appreciate it even more now that I understand just how masterful they are.
  6. One of the most unsettling Goya paintings for me is one I first saw on the Penguin edition of Melmoth The Wanderer. I keep forgetting the title of it, so here's a link to the book using it as the cover: Melmoth The Wanderer Edit: Nevermind, found it. Monk Talking To An Old Woman Princeton Art Museum
  7. Eh, I don't think so honestly. It doesn't even have an HD release of any kind yet and I never hear it come up in Horror nerd discussions which is kind of crazy. I think it SHOULD come up way more. It's like Hyper Evil Dead 2 and one of those "okay, finally enough gore for me" movies...which is alarming lol.
  8. That this movie is so obscure even in Horror circles is a crying shame. Braindead absolutely rules and I'm shocked you quoted it lol
  9. When your ear falls off your head, you know it's time to go.
  10. I just replayed it two months ago and I can safely say that this man smokes rock. That game is as close to perfect of a game as I've played in years, that's crazy. I love Remake 2, I think it's a really great game, but the art direction alone doesn't hold a dim-ass candle to RE1R. Just compare the lab sections. Granted, that's personal taste because to me RE1 is a lot more Gothic Horror than even RE2 and I vastly prefer that look.
  11. Granted I'm Americanized as all hell but I still retain a lot of European sensibilities I suppose and one of the big differences I can never wrap my head around is that such a vast majority of Americans can't seem to fathom the idea of a police force without immediate escalation and rage. Having watched many of these videos the common thread seems to be blatant to me and it's that cops here consistently and instantly escalate in these videos and contribute greatly to the outcome. Like many of you have said, they are trained professionals with weapons that can kill civilians on the spot, they absolutely NEED to be held to a higher standard than "just some dude" when it comes to restraint and behavior. People seem to underestimate how far something like just not instantly raising your voice, using the harshest language possible or screaming goes. They should absolutely be trained in controlling the situation mentally first in my opinion. Then again half the time I watch these videos, the Reno 911 cast appears to have been hired instead of professional law enforcement as it exists in seemingly most semi-civilized countries. And I don't mean to imply European police are angelic figures but it's a stark difference in terms of initial approach. I visit family back home frequently and there is no indication any of those countries view their police forces as this looming, Gestapo-like presence to be feared but rather as the public servants they ought to be. This shit is just sad and tragic over and over. A situation like this could've seemingly been avoided had it not escalated instantly and I don't even think that's Monday Morning Quarterback shit to say.
  12. This one is really quite different. The combat is melee-based and very different and there's a heavier emphasis of outdoor platforming which reminded me a bit of games like Blackthorne or something in ways. There's a ledge grab and so on. There's also a this hacking mechanic that lets you take over, slow down or use enemies as platforms or even have them drop their cargo for a health pickup, it all works together well for a much more interesting and unique game imo. I still think it's a bit more niche so I'm not sure if it just hit my spots or if it's actually "better" than the first.
  13. I wasn't a huge fan of the original game so this one originally kind of came and went for me. Tried it out with PS+ on Friday and by Sunday night I had somehow blown 14 hours on it. Something about this game really clicked with me and it might be up there with my favorite Metroidvanias. It's more than the sum of its parts and I think the absolutely fantastic, often surprising soundtrack is a major factor in that.
  14. So I only managed to squeeze in watching until Joel's daughter (fuck, I always forget her name) wakes up to all the commotion outside with Joel out of the house. Something I noticed is that, at least so far, the pacing and tone is relatively quiet, understated and refreshingly confident. I mean that as in, it seems to move at a slower, steadier and more confident pace that I would've expected and that's a very good thing in my opinion. The shot of the elderly neighbor contorting in the background just out-of-focus was something that made me go okay, this bodes well for this show. This is one of those moments where I essentially expect obnoxious jump cuts, jump-scare score hits and so on at this point but instead we were left sitting in the relative silence of that house and only hear the faint noises of her body contorting, barely audible even on headphones. By the time the jets flew overhead I felt the show had built a surprising amount of anxiety and doomy atmosphere that snuck up on me and kind of released when I saw that shot. I thought that image, combined with the lack of a blaring score telling us "danger", was very strong. I'm really looking forward to actually sitting down to watch this and I can't say I had much interest in this prior to be quite honest. The only slight chink in the armor for me was that I only thought the actor playing Joel was noticeably good. Not sure I like the dude who plays Tommy, his acting seemed kind of overblown in the few scenes he's been in that I saw so far. Joel's daughter is okay but kind of stands out as slightly wooden vs. Joel.
  15. Ah I see he's as big of a dickhead as I expected from having suffered through several episodes of that stupid-ass show.
  16. This post cracked me up because I just made a Jitterbug joke to my friend the other day and he had no clue what I was talking about
  17. Just emulate them with HD texture packs. Metroid PrimeHack is amazing and doesn't take anything crazy to run smoothly. I'm not buying a console for two flagship games per gen.
  18. Did construction in some form or another for years and ended up with a work injury that meant I had to go into the office or change careers entirely. My boss was kind enough to offer me to train for Estimating/Project Management for about two years and I'm still glad every day that I took that offer despite the severely reduced pay for a while. I've been doing that for about 13 years now.
