  1. And she brought Swankie to the Oscars. Absolute legend.
  2. Promising Young Woman and The Father win for screenplay, Another Round for international feature, Daniel Kaluuya for supporting actor. No real surprises so far. They’re definitely not playing anyone off the stage. Speeches are rambling.
  3. The Oculus Quest 2 won't be replaced by an upgraded VR headset anytime soon | PC Gamer WWW.PCGAMER.COM There will eventually be an Oculus Quest Pro with upgraded features, but not this year. Sounds like there will be an updated Quest 2 some time next year, but the next step beyond that might not come for a while.
  4. Bumping this because I just rewatched Memories of Murder, on the aforementioned Criterion Collection release (it's also available on Hulu). Personally, I have a hard time deciding which is better, it or Parasite. I think I prefer Parasite, mostly it's so much fun, but from an "objective" craft perspective or whatever, I think they're pretty equal.
  5. That part has been covered a couple of times. There were two versions of the original game. Only one released outside of Japan back in the day, and starred a father trying to save his daughter. This release is of the other version, which was previously exclusive to Japan. It features a younger man trying to save his sister as the main character, but is largely the same game as what we got. As for how it compares to Automata, the overall vibe is similar, but the action (based on my hazy memory from playing it 10 years ago) will likely feel like a big step back. Still, I’m looking forward to playing this, once I’m back in a position to play games again.
  6. Interesting that they are bringing in a bunch of international directors. Border is a weird, good movie.
  7. The second dose of Pfizer has hit me a little harder the next day. Nothing too bad, just some soreness and fatigue. Called off work even though I probably could have gone in and been fine. I figure this fuckin' virus can get me at least one day off work.
  8. I'm always down to replay RE4, and I have a Quest 2, but for some reason I'm not particularly excited for this.
  9. Kroger is paying their employees to get the vaccine. I just got my second shot this morning, and after I give HR a copy of my card, I'll get an extra $100 on my next paycheck. Not quite as satisfying as cash in hand, but I'll take it.
  10. I was finally getting my acne under control, but wearing a mask at work all day has my face all red and splotchy. So if anything, I probably look younger.
  11. Sometimes I “write” jokes in my head about really heavy topics as my way of coping with them. I usually don’t share them, except for maybe here.
  12. Now that it’s on HBO Max, I’ll give it a shot. I’m sure they make good stuff, but I never remember that Cinemax exists.
  13. I’m just glad that I’m no longer the only person here who has seen it.
  14. Yeah. I've never really got into the animated shows, so I haven't paid much attention to this one, but apparently it is a spin-off/sequel to The Clone Wars.
  15. It’s weird that you two don’t get along better.
  16. Star Wars: The Bad Batch. Remember, they have multiple franchises that are getting too many new shows a year.

    Bear down for midterms
  18. Which I guess just feels inherently less interesting to me.
  19. I keep thinking about Pacific Rim. I mean, the humans in that movie aren’t exactly brilliantly layered characters or anything, but they are functional and actually have a reason to be in the movie.
  20. I’ve only played about about 90 minutes, but it feels like a pretty normal “console” JRPG. If you had told me this was a lost PS2 game or something like that, I would believe you. I don’t know how it works with a controller, but the iPad UI is good.
