Lol so far their recent outbursts also remind me of that mid-late 2000's arc that Shia LaBouf was on. Other than that my reaction's similar to the Will Smith Oscars drama - disappointment, jokes and guffaws aplenty but not much beyond that. Over the past several years I've realized theres so much going on offscreen the general public simply can't know yet and I try to factor that into my responses. What if the person they thew the chair at said something fucked up or threatened them? Had a knife and was on a drugged-fueled rampage or something? What if something serious went down between Chris and Jada the general public has no idea about that adds a truly fucked up layer of meaning to those jokes? It doesn't excuse the punch (assuming it wasn't staged) and initial disappointment or making fun of it is sound enough maybe, but there might be info we don't know yet that changes how we feel about it if we did. Plus I don't follow hollywood gossip drama often and might be missing context that IS public. It's a lot to keep track of tbh, nor do I care much. Most celebs, hollywood or not, are very privileged obv and society gives them way more importance than anyone should have. To many it might seem like everyone in the entertainment industry cares way too much about seeming as ethically perfect as possible and belittling anyone who isn't, but as anyone with experience knows it's just so any flaws or mistakes someone has isn't unfairly weaponized against them. Talent aside, celebs are human and capable of fucking up like anyone else and it less hectic times would want this to be normalized as much as anyone, and occasional inconsequential shitty behaviors that we'll all forget in six months are different from being terminally shitty people, having shitty beliefs, abusers, etc (Mel Gibson, Bill Cosby, Harvey Weinstein, Dave Mustaine, etc). And even then, we're talking about an industry where it seems like a third of everyone identifies as a scientologist lol, so it gets to a point where who cares? Generally those who do tend to be stalkers, toxic clout-chasers and other various weirdos. Not to mention the culture we see on social media of unironic immediate reacting with strong judgement or blindly agreeing w/ every scrap of celebrity drama or "expert opinion" without knowing full context is an unhealthy habit that seems increasingly ramped up and widespread over time. /rant EDIT: Oof, didn't notice that until now, kal, thank you for the precision check ^_^

Even if the new JSR disappoints, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk should definitely scratch that itch and then some so fans have plenty to be hyped about. I'm very intrigued w/ how a big budget Crazi Taxi will play.

Tbf some amazing artists become multi millionaires w/ NFTs so sometimes buyers do recognize quality. Like most everything, the NFT scene isn't absolutely good or bad, though techdork cringe art does seem be highly profitable as well and more influential. As far as I know, at least. Over time, like having expertise in lore of some popular entertainment that many have a passionate savant-like knowledge of, I'm starting to realize/accept there's probably gonna be some prominent subcultures in the art lexicon I simply wont have the energy or interest to feel like keeping up with

The ONLY appealing stuff about anything NFT-related I know of is it's a good way to pay bills right now for struggling artists, the quality of some of the art (Beeple's a real one) and those animated gifs you can display in a digital picture frame or something. If unique art was being sold in that form It'd kinda make sense, but It's a calculus equation to me how any of this had to be entrenched in crypto, blockchain, etc lmao. It's like the beanie babies craze but somehow dumber and amplified by 1000.

Nah, not a framerate thing that I'm having an issue with, though that might be an issue that's happening, not sure Y'know I never though to check, does equipment load effect stuff like that even when not overencumbered?

For sure, Sekiro and Elden Ring play differently, but also there seems to be more of a luck factor in the combat so far. In Sekiro and the other FromSoft game's I played it feels like any hit or death I take is totally on me, but in this game there's more moments where you're at the mercy of things. If you get knocked down randomly you basically gotta wait up to four seconds and hope the combatant doesn't body you in the time it takes to recover. I talked to someone else about this and they mentioned leveling up poise, so maybe that's a way around it.

Nah, sometimes it'll be only two enemies, one boss, etc. If you're down for the count after a random strike it seems luck will determine if you live at that point. Nada. Roll button or jump do absolutely nothing once you hit the ground. You basically gotta wait three or four seconds. Is it a matter of leveling up? If only it happened after taking several hits in a row or when you've not low on health or something. I know I gotta "git gud" or whatever, but it feels straight up cumbersome compared to the combat in some of their previous games, especially Sekiro, but maybe it's possible to nerf it via leveling up poise or something.

So if an enemy knocks you down you pretty much just take hits until you die, eh?

Another reason for some hype is the increased mass appeal and cultural relevancy video games have now compared to a decade ago, resulting in better adaptations (Detective Pikachu, the Castlevania anime, Arcane, etc). It's possible we're on the verge of seeing game adaptations as good as anything else in film and TV right now.

One pitch was like, "Rapture is a neat setting and all, but does it have to be underwater?" I reckon the fact that this is even getting made might indicate how positive a note things are starting on.

Still need to know more about it to have a substantial reaction, but aside from the lack of the iconic score (which won't be in the series, unfortunately, or anything else directly connected to the six films) it's tough to not feel hyped imo - the passion for the source material is clearly felt and there's definitely several blockbuster films with worse cinematography and vfx than what's shown there. The abundance of Cgi instead of practical is a bummer, but also expected. I'm cautiously optimistic.

That trailer if nothing else certainly shows how well Peele nails the Twilight Zone-esque part of his storytelling style. I wish anything I saw of that reboot a few years ago was as good
