    Oct 11: The Rental - 4.5/10

Big pile of nothing. A true masterclass on how to lack any suspense and fail to build any tension. I didn’t hate it. It’s just nothing. Nothing happens, and the little that happens towards the end is so abrupt and generic that it might as well have not happened at all.

Even though i liked it a bit more I think this take is mostly on point. Living through some creepy bnb encounters makes you want to see films that depict the horror of that experience in a way that does it justice and mines more surprising and memorable thrills out of it. The premise of The Rental was good but the execution is lacking i would say.  I suppose its possible Barbarian is a movie about bnb's that gets it right...

  2. She Dies Tomorrow - Not sure how to describe this. "Mood horror" i guess?  Like that Picnic at Hanging Rock film from the 70's, it's definitely a mysterious horror film/thriller, but with no gore or monsters or killers or anything like that.  Honestly it was rough staying interested at times, but i like the dark humor and unique concept, 7/10.

Hard Candy - Haven't watched anything this harrowing in a long time. Easy to imagine film classes using it as an example of effective limited storytelling.  Probably won't see it again, but an unforgettable experience 8/10

The Rental - Having stayed at BnBs, this one got to me occasionally but I think it lacked style and it's another horror movie where the main characters make so many unrelatable and idiotic decisions, but overall it was alright, 7/10

  3. when nearby restaurants are still serving the "lets try making this stuff more like cheeseburgers" style of latin cuisine it might tell you about the culture you spend a lot of time around!

man i'll never take for granted not growing up or living in whitey suburbs.  where i'm at now does have a slight decrease in overall restaurant quality but at least an authentic italian place and taquerias (with some of the best birria tacos i've tried) are some of the options nearby ^_^

  4. anywho to answer the question in the OP lets just say i'm increasingly content to have stopped feeling that emotion entirely for years now.  for whatever reason it seems many who haven't seem susceptible to provocation, selectiveness with facts, scapegoating, preferences of using optics and myth making/storytelling instead of engaging with any disagreements, etc ^_^

Does anyone know how long House of Dragons is supposed to be?

As of now about 3-4 seasons

A source told The Hollywood Reporter that the Targaryen storyline is currently plotted to run between three and four seasons – although there's enough scope for a follow-up plot line focussing on the same infamous family, with potential to explore the likes of, for example, the Doom of Valyria.

“The Targaryens span both directions [forward and backward in the timeline],” co-showrunner Miguel Sapochnik said in the same article. “So as a spine to other possible stories and spinoffs … this [House of the Dragon] is a great place to start.”

Key characters in the new series include Prince Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith), Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy), Hand of the King Ser Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) and his daughter Lady Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke), in addition to King Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine).

The Targaryen Civil War, known as the Dance of Dragons, will be the focus of the prequel, as two rival claimants to the Iron Throne do battle.

Game of Thrones author George RR Martin said: "For what it's worth, those who have read Fire & Blood will realise it contains enough materials for a dozen shows.

    God I hate that game.

Ive tried to get into it multiple times, and im convinced people like it because they like Kojima.

Yeah, I mean maybe im just missing something, but I've tried to push through, and I just never enjoyed a minute of it.

Im happy for those who enjoyed it, but man, MGS it was not.

Based! Some Kojima stans at the time might've gone overboard w/ geeking out over it/riding his dick, and it was provocative, confounding and angering for many experiencing it too so definitely some truthful points here ^_^
