The article is objectively trash but it's a fitting view into how thoroughly she's adopted the grift.

“I was sold for $200 as a sex slave in the 21st century ... And they say they’re oppressed because people can’t follow their pronouns they invent every day?” North Korea defector Yeonmi Park...

Shes been making the rounds on Podcasts for the past year or so peddling her bullshit . Most Koreans here know of her and ever changing story. She never starved and in fact her family was quite well off. Her mother was considered the "Paris Hilton" of NK.

Note: I only read what you quoted here, so if there were other dumb things said in the article, I’m not referring to those.

Other than the goofy last sentence, this was a pretty common view held during the CRE. Some favored boycotts of all businesses with any differential treatment of whites and Blacks, and the creation of more Black owned businesses to keep economic activity in the community and create Black wealth. Others cared more about fighting the specific injustice of the differential treatment.

As with most things, Black folks aren’t monolithic in their views on how was best to press forward on gaining rights. I personally would be more of the “if you don’t want my money, I’ll put it elsewhere” camp, but such things can also be really tricky depending on your context. If you live in a little town in Mississippi in the 1950s with only one grocery store, and the white owner decides “no Blacks allowed”, the ability to shift resources elsewhere is made more difficult. It is also a reason you saw so much racial migration from the Deep South in the 20th century.

Many Asian communities are of the same mindset, its why they tend to be more supportive and tight nit then other minority communities. White folks dont want to sell me groceries , fuck em we build our own grocery stores.

If you live somewhere it's legal, it should be easy to get low thc marijauna product. Theres a wide, wide variety to what's on the market.

I've mostly moved to vapes and edibles, which are strong, but also discreet.

Edibles is my normal go to but sometimes I just wanna smoke. Every dispensary around me only carries high octane for Rec use and the lower stuff is reserved for med users.

Fixed that for you... my mom and her friends aren't conservative at all and they got a lot of their news from Facebook. Thankfully she's waking up to how much bullshit is on there... I was worried about her during the lockdown.

After my mom passed several years ago my father who was a right leaning fell hard into conservative horseshit internet media.  It wasn't until he was in the hospital on his death bed that I found out. His phone would blow up from right fringe websites every 5 mins. He was also making monthly donations to these scummy mother fuckers. I had control over his accounts so I put a stop to it. It was very disheartening to find out someone so smart( he built and maintained rocket guidance systems) would fall for there scams.

One of the aspects about Afrofuturism that I find very appealing and which sets it apart from other forms of science fiction is that it genuinely does appear to be somewhat more "optimistic" about the future comparatively speaking.  From what I gather, this outlook represents a consciously deliberate effort by creators to imagine a better future for the peoples of Africa rather than allowing that vision to be solely dictated by the traumas and horrors of the past.  A few essays which explore this notion:

We view Wakanda as fiction. But imaginings of what a Black liberated society could look like are dramatically fueling change.

I'm sure you'll be interested in these as well @skillzdadirecta!

    Agreed.

Heres a good article about how it pulls itself from the "Western Gaze" of always leading to violence.

Glad you're well down the road to recovery from the first operation! Fingers crossed for the second bit. Did they give you a timeframe for recovery?

About 5 days before I'll be back to normalish. The first 2 days will just be sleeping and pain killers. 3 - 5 will be jello and pudding only.

This is what they have to do, the roots run deep so they gotta dig deep.

  8. I really wish streaming services and the film industry would start taking a good hard look at Afrofuturism.  There is such good content that I feel is getting overlooked that would make some fantastic series or films.

    Binti

    The Galaxy Game

    Everfair

    Brown Girl In The Ring

All of these are legit some of the best sci fi.

Practicality of a gun reduction policy aside, you also have to convince leftists and minority groups that have armed up in defense of their own communities to hand their guns in to a government that routinely makes policy to diminish their political power and at times erase them from existence.

One of my biggest pet peeves of this board is the " herr durr anyone who owns a gun is a tiny dicked pussy". There are a metric ton of minority gun owners whos only protection is a gun. Cops arent in any rush to help some Korean grocery store owner who has been robbed half a dozen times. 2 very close family members are part of a Drag troop that do not do shows unless they have protection or they conceal carry. On several occasions I have been asked to show up,hang out and escort them from the club to the parking lot while carrying. Police sure as fuck arent gonna do shit for them.
