Both my better half and I receive our vaccines this morning, with me having finished more. We’re about to have lunch to celebrate a short workday. I can’t believe a year ago today we had no idea what was going to happen. It feels so good that instead of promises not being kept, things that are promised or moving ahead of schedule. Yes I know that it’s better to under promise and over deliver, but this seems to be a process with very few hiccups so far.

Combat in the Mass Effect trilogy has evolved across the series, with each game’s experience being different. We wanted to make the experience better across the board, but we didn’t want to unnecessarily change what our fans have come to love about each game. That proved a unique challenge, as the first game is quite different from the second and third in terms of gameplay and combat. Mass Effect was heavily influenced by traditional RPG mechanics, like the randomness of a dice roll and pen-and-paper stat building. As a result, weapons in Mass Effect often felt less accurate and reliable than the gunplay in Mass Effect 2 and 3. We heard the consistent feedback that it was pretty frustrating to take a few shots with an assault rifle and suddenly have the reticle enlarge to span a large portion of the screen, so we looked at tuning the mechanics to provide better handling without outright scrapping the spirit of the original games. In the first Mass Effect, accuracy (including reticle bloom and weapon sway) has been tuned across all weapons to allow players to maintain more consistent firepower while still managing their shots/overheat meter. We’ve also improved the aiming down sights (ADS) camera view to be tighter on combat so that ADS is more accurate (like the second and third games), and we’ve improved the aim assist to provide better precision. These small behind-the-scenes changes collectively make combat much “snappier,” putting more control into the player’s hands. Abilities have also been rebalanced in the first game. For example, the “Immunity” ability now grants a powerful defensive buff that lasts a brief period of time instead of being a small buff that lasts indefinitely. The following overview lists gameplay changes we made specifically to the first Mass Effect, with the goal of bringing it a bit more in line with the rest of the trilogy: Shepard can now sprint out of combat Melee attacks are now mapped to a button press rather than automatically occurring based on proximity to an enemy Weapon accuracy and handling has been significantly improved Reticle bloom is more controlled Weapon sway removed from sniper rifles Aiming down sights/”tight aim” camera view has been improved Improved aim assist for target acquisition All relevant enemies now take headshot damage in the first game Previously some did not, including humanoid enemies Ammo mods (Anti-Organic, Anti-Synthetic, etc.) can now drop throughout the whole game Previously, these stopped dropping at higher player levels They are now also available to purchase from merchants All weapons can be used by any class without penalty Specializations (the ability to train/upgrade certain weapons) are still class-specific Weapons cool down much faster Medi-gel usage has been improved Base cooldown reduced Levelling benefits increased Increased Liara’s bonus to cooldowns Inventory management improvements Items can now be flagged as “Junk” All Junk items can be converted into Omni-gel or sold to merchants at once Inventory and stores now have sorting functionality Some abilities have been rebalanced Weapon powers (i.e., those that are unlocked on each weapon type’s skill tree) have been improved: Effectiveness/strength is increased (duration reduced in some cases) Heat now resets on power activation

General Gaming ~*D1P's Games of 2021*~
SaysWho? replied to Commissar SFLUFAN's topic in The Spawn Point
Sackboy: A Big Adventure -- Must-have if you have a PS5 It's a lovely platformer which, if you've played Super Mario 3D World, will seem familiar to you. Up to four players co-op, plus online play or a mix of couch co-op/online. Like plenty of platformers, it introduces new concepts all the time and gets tougher, but I think part of the joy is how fun and weird the world is. It's got the same humor, imo, as Media Molecule's LBP games, and each level has plenty to find. You can find blue orbs, which allow you to progress further into the world, unlock boss battles, and create a sketch book for each world. You can find "Collect-a-Bells," which you use to get more costumes for your sackboy. You can find new costume parts and skin colors in each level. And if you get enough points or unlock enough (not sure which), a genie pops up in the level which allows you to accumulate a ton of Collect-a-Bells. The lady and I unlocked most costumes in our runthrough, and there's bonus content once you complete the game that I didn't know was there. It will require you to have mastered much of the game. Just a ton of fun and a worthwhile purchase. Have fun! 2021 Games Demon's Souls Remake (2nd playthrough) Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney -- Trials and Tribulations Days Gone Astro's Playroom Sackboy: A Big Adventure -

Ratchet & Clank (2016) Playing a bunch of them, unless I'm burned out (usually I'm not for this series) in anticipation for Rift Apart soon. It's been too long. -
Playing through Ratchet & Clank again, and it looks great at 60. It was never difficult to play since it was a consistent 30, but 60 makes it pretty and similar to most of the other R&C games. I may hook up my PS3 and go through a bunch of the other R&C games, starting with Up Your Arsenal (don't think the first two really hold up anymore last I tried to play them). So it'd be Up Your Arsenal -> Tools of Destruction -> A Crack In Time for me, and then probably playing Into The Nexus for the first time.

Yo U.S. Senate parliamentarian says Democrats can use reconciliation to pass more bills | Reuters WWW.REUTERS.COM The U.S. Senate parliamentarian ruled on Monday that Democrats may use a procedural tool known as reconciliation to pass more legislation this year, a spokesman for Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said, which could clear the way for passage of an infrastructure bill without... That's for this year, using it as a means to revise the budget. So it's a matter of negotiating with Sinema and Manchin again. But they don't need to water it down considerably to get 10 Republican votes. -
It’s huge and it’s glorious. Also, the Chalice Dungeons are not as complicated as they initially seem. I recommend doing them as you progress through the game that way they’re never too easy, and they have some really spectacular bosses.I recommend doing them as you progress through the game that way they’re never too easy, and they have some really spectacular bosses.

I don't necessarily think that's conspiracy nonsense; I think some people just like to be underestimated. They certainly underestimated Biden for some dumbass reason. In a conversation with Clinton and Bush, Clinton made a reference to the best thing in politics is being consistently underestimated, and Bush basically acknowledges that's how his political life operated (58:07 if it doesn't timestamp):

Days of Future Past is up there for me as well. If I watched it again, I may feel The Incredibles is high up there, but I don't know if I have the same opinion of it as others did (for years, I know many on IGN considered it to be Pixar's best film). While I enjoyed the MCU Spider-Man films, particularly Spider-Man, I'm not as in love with MCU as plenty of others from the ones I've seen. However, I have heard Winter Soldier is one people recommend to people who aren't 100% sold on MCU's style/atmosphere. I'm sure one day I'll just sub Disney+ and give it a watch. Having rewatched the entirety of TDK trilogy, I feel at least TDK and TDKR would probably be up there for me, the latter feeling even more relevant a decade later.
