Apologize for what? I'm not leaving the board over something so fuckin stupid, believe me. Glad I know how you really feel. I'll keep that in mind. I will never apologize for my views on this subject.
[No, absolutely not]

The murderer is Mexican and the victims are all Honduran, so it wouldn't surprise me if there wasn't an ethnocentric dimension to this attack as well.

Now that I think about it this is possibly good for court reformers, taking some of the partisanship out of it.

Can't wait to find out RBG clung on to the bitter end because she was raking in massive bribes too.
Don't have to be taking money to be doing some questionably ethical stuff. RBG's long relationship with Nina Totenberg is known.

What I've always found amusing about right wingers when they say things like: "so much for the tolerant left" when we want to shame and ostracize bad behavior because they're completely missing the point. The "tolerant left" is tolerant (a better word would be accepting) of minority groups, marginalized groups and communities, bullied people, etc. We don't just tolerate anything and I don't think the tolerant left said they'd tolerate fascism, neo-nazism, dictator strong men, hateful ideologies, and so forth. I'm not sure where they got the idea that tolerance in one area (or areas) means tolerance of all things in all areas?
They recognize the superiority of our shame and disgrace themselves further by begging us to stop hurting them.

I really, really have serious reservations about the ultimate effectiveness of this now near-mythical UAF counteroffensive operation.
Ultimate vs the Russians or ultimate vs a skilled opponent?

I've been on this board a long time (all of us have at this point), I'm pretty sure we know the regulars from the other boards (users who don't usually come to this sub board) who have regressive views in one way or another (or in many) ways don't we? In fact, lately I've been surprised by, given how few regular posters are left, that many that are left have weird views on certain big political/social subjects. I'm not going to name names (best3444 being just one clear example in this thread which is why I don't engage with him too much) but it's become pretty clear to me over the years given what people complain about in video games, film, TV, etc. which users these are. Consistent patterns show up in how people post about certain things. Everyone knows which 4-6 regular users I'm talking about right? I only ask because I thought we all knew this about best3444 and so when I now just came into this thread I wasn't too surprised by his posts.
Shame is important. Someone can be politically an American conservative as long as they don't act on it. When they do they deserve to be shamed back into their box.

What is the level of transitioning required for someone to be considered transgender?
To be determined by the licensing agency for the sport? I've heard of some using a standard that requires two years of HRT plus maybe some other things sounds reasonable to me. We're not trying to define man or woman here just give a swing at fairness and change if it doesn't work. Literally all rules in sports are like this.

Sure. Why is selling the business dumb? Again, YOU are the one saying he is an idiot for what he did but so far can’t explain what is dumb about selling his business 😂What's dumb is he didn't sell the business he sold the brand. The only thing he's left with is his personal brand which really sucks right now. You can say 538 doesn't hold much value without Nate and that may be true but it's also true that Nate without the brand he's built for over a decade is worth even less.

About the same price as a concert tee these days though. Which is like 99% of my wardrobe.
Same idea too it's a donation more than an attempt to profit at scale.

You said he is and idiot who thinks he is smart because he sold the brand but retained some of his IP. This is the most normal of transactions when a founder sells their business. I just don’t know why you think that was dumb.
He didn't have to sell the business?

I thought this was common knowledge about those chuds honestly.
Common knowledge maybe but raising it as a salient political issue has been long dormant. Seems like a stupid move especially with the live grenade that is abortion politics still bouncing around.

Tim Sweeney was never anyone's hero.
He forced people to use his stupid epic games launcher, he's been reviled for years. Then he has the nuts to go on about meritocracy. What a yutz.

Biden is the incumbent, he'd never show up for any debate and without him there is no debate. Let's not get all haughty over nothing.

Correct. So, again, what do you think happens when you *sell* a business?I really don't understand what you're getting at here.

If given the choice between retaining the brand or the data models as was the situation with the initial Disney acquisition, the relatively safer bet is the retention of the data models from the standpoint of which one has the greater potential for future value generation.
I'm sure Nate wagered the same thing before he tanked his personal brand.

Of what utility is the 538 brand without the underlying assets (the models) that underpinned it?
Who cares about utility if only one of the two things has value? Nobody's following Nate Silver anywhere.

What exactly do you think happens when you sell a business? He didn't sell the brand when he worked for the times.

Meh... I feel like brands can be replaced. I'd take the models and his name elsewhere and build it all up again. Curious to see where he lands.
He got a rep off a big splash that he hasn't replicated and has become increasingly cranky.

What's funny is that Disney owns the 538 brand and Nate owns the models, in case you needed more proof that he's an idiot who thinks he's smart.

I went back to canned tuna especially since they started coming back packed in oil. I don't even think the pouch is all that better and it's crazy more expensive. I usually make croquettes with it.
