Those that own this VR Headset: Do you love it or hate it or somewhere in between? Did you own a VR Unit before this purchase?

I have never even tried VR but have always wanted to give it a try if not outright owning a good set. This set, the PS5 VR set has been the closest I have ever been to buying one. I have very much wanted to Play HalfLife: Alex I'm pretty sure that's a title not available on the PSVR2 set.

So is this VR set recommended of at this point a pass and wait for maybe Meta 4's set? If I do buy one I'm going to want one that ticks most all boxes and doesn't need modules set up in the corners to work. So the least wires would be great. I doubt the PSVR2 is the one for me but am really wanting to know what the overall opinions are from those that own it and maybe have for awhile?

Quest 2 just got a price reduction to 199, Walmart include a 50 gift card with purchase. Quest 3 light will have the better processor with the same optic lenses, that will release later this year for probably 299 depending on if it comes with controllers or not. The PSVR2 pc support will be a ways off and in that time the headset price might go down. If you want to commit, I recommend the Quest 3, if you just want to dabble and "try" VR Quest 2 is a steal right now.

This IS the next big VR shooter. Open beta every weekend through the month with 60 player lobbies with the devs teasing 75 player lobbies. You will have to go to their discord server to request a Meta key, but the beta should be up on Steam.

I'm pretty lucky when it comes to motion sickness in games.

My wife for the most part is the exact opposite poor woman. I have though experienced it, especially if I have a headache or just am not feeling to well. When it happens it's almost always in shooters or flying games. Funny thing is I have NEVER evn tried VR! I mean I have never had the experience of putting on a headset and feeling/seeing that experience. I have wanted to. I have almost purchased a quest 2/3. Pondered maybe the PS5 VR headset, etc. I would want it simply for racing games in which I am a HUGE fan of. I'm sure it's amazing with a great wheel that I have {For PC} and...yea Just never tried it. Saying this I'm not sure I'd like it as I'm really claustrophobic! I MEAN TERRIBLY. Not to explain in 1000 words but I had an experience that was life changing in a negative way making me incredibly fear small places and or things over my head. It took me 2 years after my "Experience"  to even get a motorcycle helmet back over my head and wear it! Sucked & Sucks STILL!  So I understand issues with motion sickness. Movies like Paranormal activities, blair which project, etc and a no go for my wife every bit as much as my gaming. I feel sorry for her but it is what it is.....

Buy a refurbished quest 2, a Quest 3 lite is coming later this year too. It's worth it.

  4. It's going to be a glorified media player for a few years until developers really figure it out. Samsung and Google will announce stuff this year that will be a bit cheaper and hopefully adopt gaming mechanics.

My biggest issue is just it not having controllers. An AR focused device should definitely function without controllers, but an AR focused device should also not be a heavy VR headset. It has good internals provided by Apple’s m series chips and an amazing display, but it seems to answer absolutely nothing that either AR or VR need to move forward.

But a super premium Apple VR competitor to Quest I could have gotten behind. But Apple’s weird allergy to controllers and gaming strikes again so I wasn’t able to talk myself into preordering it. Maybe this series line will be a great AR device in the future, I actually really want that from Apple, but I think whatever really takes off there will barely even resemble this. And if they want to go VR or do hybrid, unless they think they can go full holodeck in the next few years they need to get over whatever stops them from making controllers. You need to be able to move around spaces.

It's called spacial computing. The device will grow, Apple will get tons of feedback and try to reinvent the wheel when it comes to analog input. Meta has to compete with Apple, just like Samsung, Google and more. The only market Meta dominates in VR is gaming right now, and sadly Valve could easily snatch that away.

  6. The AVP will be the best VR headset you can buy in terms of optics and horse power. Software is going to be slow/lacking for a couple years. I rember seeing something like Apple devices don't really shine till the 4th Gen. VR devices arnt cheap, and Apple certainly isn't cheaping out.

  7. Getting your VR legs can take some time. I suggest you take the headset off immediately if you feel nauseas. A fan always helps too. One thing I do when "walking" is I bend my knees like im walking. I have no idea if I do this because im bored, or it helps with the feeling of motion sickness. Also look into comfort settings to ease your way into some games. Half Life Alyx does a great job with this.

  8. I personally use the meta elite strap and strap an external battery on the back. Allows more time in VR without a battery swap, though the Bobo system is really nice with hot swappable batteries. Better facial pads should be coming out from VR Cover in a few weeks too.

Ok so I decided … I bought a Quest 3. It should arrive today.

If you can, get a upgraded headstrap. BoboVR has really good alternatives and they just released the elite strap version.

  10. Soooo, the company that makes the virtual link adapter that allow PSVR2 to hook up to pc is discontinuing them. Microsoft is also sunsetting windows mixed reality in the next couple of years. Quest 3 is the way to go right now unless you want to spend 1000's.

  11. Headset is pretty fantastic, most games that have been updated are getting visuals close to the pc. Thrill of the fight and watching movies have been my favorite MR things so far. It also looks like you can get creative with virtual desktop forced MR that worked pretty well with blade and sorcery.

  12. Pre-ordered, will be in tomorrow. The straps are coming in a day later for whatever reason. Purchasing elite strap at store since BoboVR doesn't want my money. Invest in Big screen Beyond if oled is you determining factor. Hell the varjo aero just dropped to under 1k, you could get that too. Buh bye!

  13. Quest 3 will have WAY better lenses than PSVR2 and will be wireless. Mixed reality will also be used more with Q3 if you're into that. Apples VR headset will start as a glorified tablet with them confirming all first party apps working natively on the headset. And yes, it will be 3k. If you don't mind spending the cash and want a really good PCVR headset, look a big screen beyond headset. They just bumped the FOV to 110 degrees.
