  1. Not saying they will be better, but I'll wait for the director's cuts for both now: Netflix Likely Getting 6 Hours of Rebel Moon Director's Cut the Same Day, Zack Snyder Says - IGN WWW.IGN.COM Rebel Moon director Zack Snyder has said the director's cut versions of both it and its sequel will likely hit Netflix the same day.
  2. Playing very old, frequently unavailable or hard to find games, often made by developers and publishers that no longer exist who wouldn't get any of the money from someone buying the game as a resale from someone on Ebay or Amazon anyway, has very little to do with the layoffs currently in the industry. No one is emulating FF7 Rebirth. This isn't a very good argument against emulation.
  3. Probably because they aren't as dumb as their American counterparts and realize it's a terrible position to take with the evolving electorate.
  4. Episode 5 from yesterday was one of the best episodes so far this season, really strong work by the comedy day players (the waiter at the Chinese restaurant and Jenna the girlfriend) with a pretty tight script. Now that it looks like Larry is definitely going to trial over the water bottle incident in Georgia, could we see a repeat of the ending of Seinfeld but done better so Larry can redeem himself in his own eyes about the ending to Seinfeld? Definitely interesting that it's heading in the same direction.
  5. That's true but it's just an example, I'm not buying a Series X for some OG Xbox backwards compatibility games. I also prefer the variety of emulation options to improve the game over Microsoft's good but sparing backwards compatibility code. I have an 80gb PS3 hardware backwards compatible PS2 and then and now I still prefer and use PCSX2.
  6. That's a shame if true because I'd love to, for instance, play Otogi on PC emulation - game would look great and at 60fps+ no less.
  7. It's kind of imperative that if you don't at least do the Chadley stuff, to at least do the side quests on the notice boards per city. With each side quest the game pairs you with one other specific party member (doesn't have to be someone in your combat party) and you'll get dialogue from the other party member while you do the side quest and upon completion your relationship with that party member will deepen, helping your synergy abilities, etc. in combat. So you do get story stuff and gameplay benefits from at least doing the story side quests. I mean, the one involving Broden (the innkeeper in Kalm) is a pretty direct side quest tie-in to a main plot point in the game. I do all the Chadley stuff too as it unlocks, but that's less involved than the notice board side quests. I just did a bunch of stuff in Junon and finished everything in Kalm and the grasslands. Gonna continue finishing Junon stuff.
  8. I mean, you can emulate Xbox and PlayStation games, but Xbox Original, Xbox 360, and PS3 emulation are still in their nascent stages. Many games don't emulate fully or well, for the PS3 emulation it's because of the "emotion engine", not sure why Xbox Original is tough to emulate given it's old but maybe it's because of unique hardware architecture. Xbox 360 is the most surprising since that's just off the shelf PC parts essentially. My point being it is far easier to emulate Wii/Wii U/Switch games on your PC than it is Xbox OG/Xbox 360/PS3 games on your PC by a wide margin (I say this as someone who emulates frequently). Not sure about PS4/Xbox One emulation, never tried.
  9. S'all good, I just want an unlocked hard mode like most games have, not sure why Square Enix the last few years decided to gate keep it behind New Game Plus.
  10. This is promising to hear given how much I hate that Square Enix won't give us a hard difficulty setting right away. Normal is so easy as to make combat simple when it has a lot of depth. But you don't need to use the depth when it's this easy. And "dynamic" difficulty is not a solution, give me hard difficulty.
  11. I mean, I haven't experienced FPS drops, but DF suggests a pretty locked 30fps the whole game, so not sure what's up here, I would say it's not shit.
  12. I'm a little confused by some of the posts here - graphics mode is better than performance mode. Graphics mode (according to DF) is a locked 30fps, it's performance mode's aim for a locked 60fps that can wobbly apparently. A locked 30fps has been pretty fine so far, I'd say of all the issues graphics-wise the FPS in graphics mode is the least of them. Do I wish I had a locked 60fps? Yes, but a locked 30fps with no frame stutter is a trade-off I'll take for better graphics.
  13. No one is disputing what you're saying, just that in terms of how it's titled almost everywhere, the subtitle of "The Movie" isn't used. It's there but that isn't relevant to the public consciousness, which is what one would be worried about with overlapping titles. Also, it's a bit of a stretch to say this is why this one is simply titled Superman. I imagine James Gunn just didn't care, not that this was some heavily thought about aspect given how cavalier he was in interviews about how it was he who introduced the infinity stones broadly to the MCU (for example). Anyways, I don't care myself either way, the previous movie is so old it doesn't matter, call it Superman, but most people know the 1978 Superman movie as just Superman, not Superman: The Movie and just because a film was marketed a certain way with its title doesn't mean that's the official title the film takes on. It's in the same way that literally Fast & Furious 6's title on screen in the movie itself is "Furious 6", which is what Justin Lin wanted to officially name it but the movie's "official" title is "Fast & Furious 6" which is how it is listed pretty much anywhere online, which is what matters. On IMDb for instance, it is officially "Fast & Furious 6" with its "original title" listed underneath in small font (as per usual on IMDb), saying "Furious 6".
  14. It was indeed also marketed as that but the "official" title that stuck was simply Superman. On the wiki page for the film, for example, it's called Superman but it was "also marketed" as Superman: The Movie. So that's something. On IMDb, the 1978 Superman doesn't even get an "original title" where it will say: "Superman: The Movie" like some films will have (particularly foreign films) and there's also no "alternative title" listed either. Over time between the two marketed titles it seems Superman won vs. Superman: The Movie.
  15. You're right, it is true that the original 1978 Superman was also marketed as Superman: The Movie (even though it's not the primary title) so there you go. I imagine this one will only be marketed as "Superman".
  16. I'm definitely okay with the graphics, but it's surprising that it's more overt/obvious than I would have expected from Square Enix. Given it's more open world, the DF article even says this game takes a step back in some regards compared to Remake, which came out 4 years ago. It's fine, but for a triple A game you would think this would be tightened up at least. I would have except I'm a completionist - of course you play Intermission before Rebirth if you want the complete experience. Can someone get by without it? Sure, but I would never encourage that given I'm a completionist. Intermission, if nothing else, gives you more understanding and exposure to Yuffie as a character, and that is invaluable even if the DLC itself is mostly fluff since you'll know her better going in when she inevitably pops up in Rebirth. I also wouldn't discount the very real possibility that the introduction of Nero in Intermission will matter for Rebirth given Nero's connections to Crisis Core and more importantly Dirge of Cerberus. Yes, he barely shows up in Intermission but again, it will matter broadly speaking.
  17. You stand by your original post, where you said nobody cares about the graphics, but if we look at this thread since the game's release, many have posted talking about the graphics, indicating they do care? Maybe you shouldn't stand by that post. Also, reading (and traveling) engender empathy, so it may be something you should want to do more.
  18. I mean, I quoted aspects of the DF article that essentially say the same thing. Take their word for it if not mine. The low poly textures make the game look washed out at times, etc. It's all there in the DF article. And where in my post am I saying I'm even remotely getting "caught up" in the visuals? The opening to my post was "the game is pretty good so far" and then I broke down the graphics aspect as that was surprising to me.
  19. You said "it definitely never looks washed out in graphics mode". Me and the article say different. You then say you know what's up but remain satisfied. That's fine, but you're wrong about it never looking washed out, which was my original point. So you agree with me about the water, you know about DF's complaints, but said that for some reason? They aren't essays you illiterate motherfucker. If you bothered to read my post, you'd see I am playing the game. And given everyone keeps talking about graphics ad nauseum in this thread (and every thread) I'd say we haven't moved on and I'm making my first post about it. So either post something of value or move along. I now get why Xbob gets irritated that everyone gets on him for legitimately criticizing many games when it seems everyone just wants to like everything regardless of any sort of objective value or valid criticism.
  20. Well, the experts disagree with you: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth tech review: an excellent but inconsistent experience WWW.EUROGAMER.NET Oliver Mackenzie presents Digital Foundry's tech review of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. How does this UE4 title take advant… I'm talking about stuff they mention in the article like: "Unfortunately, there are some areas where Rebirth is just treading water relative to its four-year old predecessor - and quite a few spots where we've actually seen a step back. Environmental lighting tends to be a serious pain point here. To be fair, many environments look perfectly fine - including the game's cities, which can exhibit decent precalculated lighting, and some of the larger open-world spaces, which look fine while relying more heavily on real-time techniques. Some of the interiors can look quite nice as well, at least when judged from a distance. Low resolution textures can also be problematic. Of course, FF7 Remake had a lot of issues with texturing in its PS4 incarnation, but Intergrade on PS5 mostly solved these issues. For Rebirth though, there's a bizarre mixture of low and high resolution assets. Most of the dodgy texture work comes in the Mount Nibelheim ascent in chapter one, which has a lot of textures that need improvement. You will spot the occasional low-res asset from time to time elsewhere, but the game's first stage has the lion's share of texturing issues." It's all very obvious. Compare this to Horizon: Forbidden West and there's no competition here. I don't mind but it is surprising. I mean, the ocean water alone in the game looks like ass. And if you read the comments to the article they feel DF is being too easy on the game.
  21. Game is pretty good so far, I'm about 7 hours in. I have the game on graphics mode and the game still looks kind of muddy and washed out with significant pop in for small plants and animals. I widened the camera/FOV as much as I could which helps (both in and out of battle), as well as slowing down the camera responsiveness to 2, which helped with motion blur and helped the game look better too. The other two things I did to help make the graphics look better was I lowered the brightness as much as the game allowed - I usually up the brightness with games but here everything just became too washed out. Additionally, with my TV the HDR Luminescence setting was maxed out to 10, I dropped it to about a 4-5 which significantly helped with the colors in the game. I recommend all of these changes to help make the game look much better. The locked 30fps at all times of graphics mode is more than good enough for me. But yeah, it is surprising that the game doesn't look better, like the entire graphics needed one more post-processing pass or additional textures need to load in or something.
