Even if the answer is no, they'd be removing the middle man and be getting that information more efficiently and affordably.

I hate TikTok and the rest of social media as much as the next person. I'm all for digital minimalism and being an advocate of digital privacy especially after working in adtech. However, there are multiple things people are conflating in this issue: the rot that comes with social media on a society, the digital privacy of citizens, the social weaponization of technology, and then of course corporate and state espionage. @finaljedi is absolutely right. The play here shouldn't be to ban TikTok or any app, but rather, shore up our privacy policies regarding all of the aforementioned things - then go after all companies (domestic and international) who violate those policies. For as much as I shit on TikTok, the service does offer value for specific use cases and that value should be allowed to stay so people can benefit from it so long as the rest of the privacy invasion shit is fixed.

Good thing Canada and the US are full of healthy people nowadays.

This was my reaction as well. I too remember college and the ambulance calls due to people being way too fucking intoxicated.

Those are numbers I am so jealous of. I have a 2015 RAV4 with 90k miles and it is used to take kids to school, go to the gym, and to guitar class. That's about it. It's been paid off for years and my wife has pushed me to upgrade and I couldn't think of a worse reason to spend money than that.

I hope that's it rather than a pattern of the seismic plates warming up for an even larger move.
