You have on the mask and the nobleman attire? If you're getting attack as soon as you enter then you may have to sneak in another way besides the front door. There's other ways into the area you need to get to.

I finally got it. I just went and did some other stuff for a couple of in game days and did it again, no changes other than time passing, and the guards couldn't have cared less about me.

Yea, like I said above there should be more direction. Not hand holding but a bit more help.

It's only frustrating to me when I feel like I pretty clearly have NOT been given the information I need / getting conflicting info. Tons of games do the "you need the right shit on or you're in trouble" thing, and there are various ways to account for that. The thing that got me was that the guy was like oh come the fuck on in and then all of a sudden I'm literally getting sliced to pieces.

I did that quest with no problems. If the guards see you some place you shouldn't be they will attack you on sight. It's actually a pretty cool quest. I just wish they handled stealth better in thhis game. There's no crouch walk is there? There another quest where you have to sneak into an offical's office and I got discovered by guards and gang banged until they threw me in prison. No idea how they even saw me.

Yeah other than music there's not a whole lot of feedback. And even on that sneaking into the prison one it's like one second everything is fine and the next they're out for blood. Like jesus did I look in the general direction I shouldn't?

I assume gonna be minor complaints overall but when I've got slightly limited time it's frustrating. Now I gotta do the masquerade again and I'm not sure if I accidentally bumped someone or my clothes aren't fancy enough or what lol.

  3. There are some things about the game that are needlessly frustrating. For instance, the masquerade quest I had like everything on I thought I should have, no indication I don't. I'm literally escorted in and welcomed, only to be cut down by the guards instantly without any knowledge why. Then was in jail. Annoying.

Is he an actual pawn from a player or one you got from one of the rifts in the wild? There are premium pawns and capcom created pawns out there so he could be one of those.

He was a pawn from a player for sure. And last night he was just normal, so he must have kitted him out between when I played.

  5. I’m not sure but I think one of my pawns is ridiculously OP for the level he’s at… he’s just destroying everything. Feels like a glitch.

Edit: ooop yep not sure it’s a glitch but he’s absurdly OP haha. Need to dismiss his ass. My strength total is 217 as a level 18 fighter. He’s a level 18 thief and it’s 14,000 hahaha. Jesus.

  6. I see where they're coming from generally, but I find the discourse around this game to be a little strange. Every positive review seems hesitant to just say it's good without a million caveats that it's not for everyone, or it's better than the sum of its parts, or something like that. Whereas like, a more traditional game people are comfortable saying typical hyperbolic shit that they'll just say without batting an eye "one of the best RPGs ever / of the decade" or whatever.

Have courage, reviewers. Good lord. Or at least be consistent.

    Now I'm confused lol

You're not wrong to post it and the articles aren't wrong in and of themselves, but the meandering nature of every fucking article nowadays as well as the internet just stealing all the shit that everyone posts, it gets confusing about WTF is actually being talked about. In this case, the way that PC gamer article is written as well as some others I've seen, it DOES kind of sound like it's the game somehow "losing" data or whatever, rather than make clear a lot earlier on that it is an option perhaps too easily accessed on the main screen and to just use caution about that and know what it does.

I assume the load from inn option is there to allow you to just reset to a safe place if you happened to wander off to a really tough area that you're having trouble getting out of / getting in some loop of dying and super frustrated.

Part of the problem is writers of these articles are like "HYPERBOLIC STATMENT FOR HEADLINE" ----- Lede: Webster's dictionary defines a game save as so and so. Dragon's Dogma is a popular new entry and it has many options. If we can keep you on this page just little longer, we'll get some more ad revenue and you'll eventually get the tiny bit of information that you clicked on the misleading headline for."

It drives me up a fucking wall.

Uh, what do you mean by this?

You kind of phrase it as it's a bug, but as I understand it, it simply loads whatever save you had when you last rested at an Inn, which isn't going to be very common. Is there a bug or something?

There’s not, it’s just a common viral story for people who apparently don’t intuitively understand why you’d use that option.

Maybe it's certain inns? or maybe you're not leveled up enough to upgrade a vocation? I've definitely done it a couple of times. But yeah some Inns you can't stay at or manage inventory which is confusing. There's an Inn in the main town where the only options you get is buy drinks for everyone :p

The first inn in melve or whatever the guy says many times he is not very busy so he is both the vocation guy and the inn guy.

Has anyone else posted about this?

I know the developer previously said they didn't include easy fast travel because it defeats the spirit of the game, or some BS. And then...they sell fast travel ability (and other things) through micro-transactions?

Discussed earlier. The designers of the game legitimately feel fast travel is not needed. This I’m sure was not their decision.

  11. 13 minutes ago, skillzdadirecta said:

The first game had limited fast travel as well and while some people didn't like this aspect it didn't ruin the game at all. The game director really doesn't like it and has said so repeatedly so this is his compromise I guess. As with most of the stink about microtraactions in games, the stink that online trolls raise is largely overblown. However, the way Capcom snuck this into the game after reviews were up without even a mention that they were going to do this is pretty damn shady unless I missed something. Not the best look and I suspect this is something corporate forced on the game and not anything the designers intended. Anywhoo... doesn't affect me so, back to the game.

Oh don't get me wrong, I am not trying to defend Capcom. I just think the people who are claiming this is "pay 2 win" or whatever are missing the point of the game. Like if Nintendo sold .99 cent skips from Mario 1-1 to Mario 8-4 and people wanna buy them, OK go for it, but maybe reevaluate what you actually enjoy about playing video games at that point.

For almost any other game it wouldn’t, but your party can get overwhelmed by just 3 enemies, because the pawns path stupidly or whatever and just let themselves get beat in the face sometimes.

I know I’m just messing with you. You’re like the game is bad all this cool shit keeps happening all the time :p

(I know you don’t think the game is bad)

Really not liking the overworld. It feels sooooooo small. So condensed. You run into one small group of enemies and suddenly 3 other small groups of enemies appear, and then some massive monster with 4 health bars all while youre trapped in a canyon.

If you were trying to make the game sound flawed you failed pretty hard there.
