  1. I think one thing we can all agree on is that anyone making this kid into a hero is a fucking cancer.

  2. Slowly going back into the office and it's obvious that my daughter misses my presence and it makes it hard for her to rest. My wife just went back this week and although she's full time telework it's still hard. And that's just to merely take care of her. Bonding takes time and repetition and absence is felt. Paid family leave shouldn't even be merely available, it should be required. We've even talked about the off chance of having another but this one was so hard from the pregnancy on that just ends the fantasy. If we could just take time off and focus on making a family maybe things would be different. Do we, as a society, want to encourage family development?

  3. Any death resulting from guns should immediately make you lose the ability to own one legally. At least give me that if you won’t ban guns outright.

  4. When I find this out about some dude, and you can about 90% of the time tell ahead of time who this is, what respect I have for them plummets to the depths of hell.

  8. One of the best things about my work history has been the ability to be home a lot. My wife hasn’t worked outside of the home essentially the entirety of our children’s lives beyond going to one of the theaters from time to time to help out. My work being more evening oriented has made it easy to be around for all sorts of things without the strain it puts on a person with a more traditional work arrangement. I would definitely like to see things change in society to make it easier on parents to be with their children, not just in the early infant stage but throughout their lives. It shouldn’t be the end of the world to take off a few hours to go to a dance recital or a spelling be that takes place during work hours.

  9. I watched that entire thing. I found it fascinating that an older woman like that was so knowledgeable on all those games. It was really well done and relaxing to watch.

  11. That's what I don't get. The ratio use only available to you after you've already chosen to play a video. Also, I can't imagine there are that many people that do pay attention to the ratio but also don't use ad block or subscribe you YouTube Red. Videos with a poor ratio are already going to be deprioritized in your search. Unless you're playing the "I wonder what's on page two of my Google search results" game, I don't see how it would ever really come into play. I think MKBHD is a little out of touch on this one. He's big enough that he doesn't have to worry about dying as a creator because trolls are ratio-ing his videos to page three of the search results. Also, yes, I know YouTube does infinite scrolling, but you all know what I mean.

  17. Oh and I wanna thank you all for the suggestions they were quite yummy. I was gonna group everything in a photo and post it but I was not feeling the best when the groceries came and decided not to burden myself with the extra work at a time when I needed rest. But I do appreciate it there were some excellent suggestions especially @SuperSpreaderhad some good ones. When I’m not feeling well it’s nice to just grab some cheese and meat and crackers. Really easy, yummy, and filling. The whipped cream was a fun touch too lol thanks @Bacon. I mostly just squirted some in my mouth here and there. I didn’t use it with the berries @Fizzzzlesuggested, I just made smoothies with it instead. Oh and thanks @stepeefor pickles I haven’t had any since September which is a long time for me. The only thing I haven’t had yet so far is the canned chicken lol. I’m nervous. But I’ll give it a go eventually because I love @ManUtdRedDevils

  19. Out of the big 3, Domino's is by far the best. I don't get it often because it isn't amazing and there are other smaller fast food pizza chains that are better but Domino's is the King of the Shitters.

  28. When I had my first kid, I worked for a crazy racist dude. The company was amazing. The team I put together was great. Everyone else at the company I loved. My direct VP was a monster. I bring this up because when my first kid was born, parental leave was a whole TWO weeks for non-birthing parents. That's it. I worked right up until my wife was off to the hospital because she had contractions five minutes apart. She was in labor for an entire week. When she finally did give birth, I had only a week left and I fought to be able to work from home for a week just to give her a chance to fully recuperate. My boss shot it down because "What can a dad even do other than bring your wife some food? Not like you're feeding the baby or changing diapers." If I could, I would have thrown a soiled diaper across the Internet and into his face. Dude had two kids and was somehow proud he never helped change a diaper in his life. I did not last long at that company after that.

  29. Yeah it’s pretty much a 1:1 remake of a ds pokémon so it’s pretty much exactly a ds era pokémon. There’s no open world area or mega evolutions. It’s gimmick I guess would be the expanded pokémon underground where you can find pokémon roaming and get treasure and stuff. There’s some multiplayer and end game stuff that idk anything about.

  33. Celeste is the first game that comes to mind. It's not my absolute favorite game of the last decade, but it is one that accomplishes absolutely everything it set out to do and pushed its mechanics and design to the absolute limit for those who want to explore it. Along those lines and for basically the exact same reason, Hollow Knight was pretty damn perfect. Outer Wilds also springs to mind.

  34. I got pizza from a local place and we took it to a brewery next door; it was sick as fuck. We got pepperoni and sopressata and they layered the sopressata underneath the cheese, it ruled. Also got toastadas from a taco place the next door over. Livin' large.

  39. Again there’s video of the dude saying he wished he could shoot people. Then he put himself into a situation where he was attacked and lo, his wish came true. I don’t dispute that he met the legal definition of self defense in this specific case; he was never going to be found guilty of murder. And I also appreciate that “don’t be there” is not especially useful advice nor a legally compelling argument in this situation specifically. But those are the problems as well as the justifications. He was spoiling for a fight. He got a fight. He defended himself in that fight. I’m not going to pretend I know how to amend the law to make it so that he’s culpable for “being in a place” generally, that doesn’t make sense. There are other cases like this too, where in Texas (I think) some dude called 911 because he saw someone break into his neighbor’s property, he was instructed by the 911 operator not to intervene, the guy went over to his neighbor’s house, shot the intruder to death, and got nothing but praise. Yeah, “don’t rob people” is solid advice but it shouldn’t be “because if you do private citizens are entitled to trespass and shoot you to death while suffering no legal consequences.” The problem is guns. Repeal the second amendment, get guns out of the hands of private citizens. It’s that fucking simple.
