  2. So I’ve been at this nursing/rehab facility now since Monday and it’s going pretty good after getting some things straightened out. I have my own room thank GOD, and I can close the door to have some slight feeling of privacy (though people still may just walk in at any moment, it’s way less frequent than in the hospital). No longer hooked to ivs anymore, nothing is beeping in my room. I’m going to be hooked up to the wound vac still for another couple weeks but it’s portable. OH, and I get outside food! I’m not going to do it every day since the food here doesn’t seem as bad as at the hospital, but it’s certainly nice to experience flavor again and I can have my diet cherry soda. Im guessing some personal freedom back too. Like I can actually get in a wheel chair myself and go out of my room and roll around the grounds now. I finally get to wear fucking CLOTHES again. I can use the commode and am allowed to do the entire shitting and wiping process myself now. That’s great because it’s really hard to take a shit when you have to call in someone and wait like 30 minutes or whatever before you are allowed to get up and sit down to drop it. Starting to feel a little more alive and hopeful in general, it was getting pretty dark towards the end at the hospital.

  5. A broad-based study that masking works, well effective masking at least, does. Cloth masks were deemed "better than nothing" resulting in a 5% reduction in symptomatic cases, vs. a 12% for surgical masks.

  10. With the season kicking off in a little over a week I figure it's a good time to create the football thread. For the first time in a while no Monday night double header game. Not sure who asked for these prime time games though. But a new season, new expectations, maybe they will be good!

  19. I found a really good twitter thread on this, @AbsolutSurgen and @chakoo: The entire thread is good, but tl;dr: Feds can't get the data Their role (as agreed upon by Ford and other premiers) was to develop a standard dataset (behind the scenes) that can then be queried federally for travel The feds cannot have this data, they can only query the provincial databases, and the provinces have to be responsible for setting them up (along with proof of vaccination) Ford knows all of this, but needs a villain so is blaming Trudeau for something that he is responsible for (delay of provincial proof of vaccination, etc).

  22. This is why boosters for anyone that wants it. I'd rather everyone I know get boosters than just see this stuff be incinerated. My city had to resort to door to door vaccinations last month and we're still only 60% vaccinated. That's with multiple clinics, pharmacies, stores, a mobile clinic that services different neighborhoods everyday, and a fucking food truck that goes door to door trying to jab folks with that sweet mRNA.

  23. Same for the NHL series. The 2K hockey games were objectively superior in every category.

  26. They have no competition, so they can just phone it in year after year. Until they lose exclusivity of the license for NFL sims and are forced to compete again or sales fall completely off a cliff, don't expect things to get better.

  27. Family Guy used to be perfect for this, but the new ones suck and I really soured on the show overall at some point. Simpsons is good, so is Futurama... I watch hockey this way a lot. Like I said before, I've been on a real Seinfeld kick lately. Which its weird because I wasn't into it all while it was on. Before about 6 months ago I had probably seen like 20 episodes in total... now I've probably seen about half the run. I'm just watching whatever my DVR grabs, but I should watch in order on Netflix. I often put on Adult Swim and just let it play in the background.

  28. Our general background shows are: Brooklyn Nine-Nine Scrubs New Girl Bob's Burgers (and now Seinfeld, once it hits Netflix) We've gone through Friends as well, but it's too boring. Simpsons sometimes enters the rotation, too, but usually if we're falling asleep in bed.

  31. I remember a user by that name. Something at least very similar. Madden always sucks lol. I haven't bought an NFL game since NFL 2K5 for Dreamcast. That was 2004 I believe.

  33. Definitely a departure from Mendes’ relative austerity; I loved Skyfall and didn’t mind Spectre, but I’m ready to get back to some especially ridiculous shit. That’s when Bond is at its most righteous.

  37. For the first six months our daughter slept in the room with us and I’d probably wake up every 20 minutes and listen to her (she was on my side of the bed). When she went into her own room, for a while I’d check on her throughout the night and now she’s nearly one, we’ll still check her a few times (though once they can freely roll around and move her head, she can sort herself out). I need to not be in this thread, it makes me feel so, so sad.
