  1. "Make America Great Again!" "Ok, when was America great?" "I would say post-WWII and the 50s." "Ok, so you want top marginal tax rates to be around 80%" "No." "Ok, so you want union membership to be around 40%" "No." "Ok, so what exactly do you want to be like the 1950s?" "Oh, you know the stuff." Every.single.time

  2. "Make America the 50's Again" Back when a factory worker could afford a 4 bedroom home (*cough* back when roughly 1 in 3 non farm workers were unionized), but more importantly before we lifted Jim Crow and let all those brown people in!

  8. Yes, everyone understands and agrees that the subjective value of owning an original over a duplicate is subjective. What I am saying is that the material difference between an original and a duplicate is NOT subjective, and whatever value people derive from that difference is entirely personal. I have seen “The Persistence of Memory” in person at the MOMA. Would I personally pay whatever millions it would be worth to own it? Fuck no. Would I have traveled to a museum to see a bunch of high quality image files of the same artwork? Also no. There is no material difference betwe

  9. Getting Team Pfizer™ at 1:48pm today. I left my name last week at a pharmacy that was doing a pilot project (right now only the government is giving vaccines here), but never heard back. This morning I called and asked if I was still eligible, and they said since I called before my group (educational workers) was up, my reservation was cancelled. However, they just called me and said I was set for today...so yay!

  16. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter - 2.5/10 It's fun in parts. Mainly early in the movie. Makeup is bad. You can tell where the budget went as there are some scenes that have laughably bad editing and effects, while others can be really good. Alan Tudyk's character is just dropped and never mentioned again. Honestly, none of the characters really do anything or mean anything other than Lincoln himself. It's basically like the first 30 minutes of the movie get your dick hard and then the next 60 have you thinking about the fact that you've forgotten to file your taxes and t

  18. Don't worry, Mile 22 offended a lot of people. It's a surprise, since director Peter Berg is quite good and he and Marky Mark were on a roll with Deepwater Horizon, Lone Survivor, and Patriots Day (all good to great movies). Now after Mile 22 and Spenser Confidential, I think they should go their separate ways.

  22. Welp, started another run, and died in the very 1st room. The difficulty seems to ramp up after each clear, and this aint no joke now. And I'm loving every second of getting my ass kicked. Starting out with just the pistol and no other items against these mobs is just pure insanity. Let the deaths start rolling in. This is the difficulty I signed up for.

  26. When I say I "beat" the game, I mean I was respawned back to the beginning again and lost all my items, but without dying. I completed a "run". As anyone familiar with a Rogue Lite will know, completing a run doesn't mean you are done with the game by any means. Hence why I had the word "beat" in quotation marks. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, so I'll just say there was a bit more to the game than I had initially thought after that first clear.

  30. Because it's DC and it's specifically carved out as not a state. Could that be fixed by just carving out all the not federal land and making that a state? Yes, but that's more nuance than the American people can handle. I'll say this again, but Puerto Rico should be the priority for statehood. There are nearly five times we many disenfranchised Americans on the island.

  33. Got the shot! Now once my wife gets hers, I will feel a weight off my shoulders. It's dumb that I got mine before she got hers. Her immune system is below low-normal, but because she hasn't been on immunosuppressants for two years, she doesn't qualify as "extremely vulnerable." But her therapy (effectively chemo) wiped it out and now, even two years later, it's not back to normal.

  34. It wasn't roid rage because Walker's issues in this predated him getting the serum. Walker's issues were clearly PTSD related and Lemar and his wife were his anchors. He clearly was carrying a lot of weight on his shoulders regarding him losing a bunch of team members but ultimately he's a guy who wants to do the right thing. The serum just makes him MORE of who he was. Maybe I'm a little more sympathetic to him because he's a LOT less crazy than he was at this point in the comics were he massacred MULTIPLE people before coming to his senses. Him being flawed is interesting and I suspect that

They were very thorough and are developing a treatment plan for me and are submitting me for state funding so my sessions will be covered. Hopefully they’re fully covered or at least sliding scale so they’re much cheaper. Also I received a new diagnosis that is blowing my mind because it’s fucking accurate and explains a lot. It encompasses most of the other diagnoses I’ve already had and brings it all together. It also gives me hope that maybe I can

  38. I really love Automata, I think it's a great game. But I think people oversell it a little bit which could lead to some disappointment. For one, it's still got a lot of Yoko Taro's... uhh... shall we say "design decisions," that are definitely considered flaws with Replicant. For example, the environments all look like low budget PS3 games. Yes, yes, they have a barren beauty to them, but they still kinda look like shit. Beyond that, the mandatory second playthrough feels almost identical to the first playthrough, which is really, really annoying. They finally change things up in t

  39. I’m not arguing value though. A painting is a painting, I can enjoy the painting and never sell it. I have art I made in my house that is absolutely worthless to anyone who isn’t me, I have it because I like it and I’m proud of how it turned out. A print, no matter how well done, is not a painting. I can’t see the dimensions of the strokes, I can’t view it from different angles and see the perspective change, I can’t touch it if I’m that sort of person and feel the texture of the canvas and paint. Monetary value or not, a true original painting has a material history and presence no dupli
