  4. ‘You’ll Never Take Me Alive!’ Shouts Giuliani Jumping Onto Chandelier And Immediately Falling 3 Stories POLITICS.THEONION.COM NEW YORK—Leaping from a bannister on the upper story of a Manhattan luxury hotel, the president’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani reportedly shouted “you’ll never take me alive!” Wednesday before jumping towards a chandelier and immediately falling three stories onto the floor below. “Good luck catching me as I disappear like a ghost in the wind—ha, ha, you can’t catch someone who never existed! Sayonara, suckers,” said the former New York City mayor...

  6. Here's how every discussion of the Civil War should go with a Lost Causer: "The Civil War was about states' rights!" "Their right to what?" "Their right to secede!" "Why did they want to secede?" "Because of Lincoln or blah blah habeas corpus!" "Lincoln hadn't even been sworn in yet when South Carolina seceded. Of the 4 main candidates in 1860, he was like the teeny-weeny-littlest bit possibly an abolitionist. But not like hard, though. Like, if we're comparing abolitionists to commies, John Brown is Lenin and Lincoln is Bernie Sanders." It's sl

  12. Yeah... that was the opening scene I'm pretty sure. I'm due for a rewatch of this series as I haven't scene it since watching it last year. It's a GREAT series as @Greatoneshere has said... I didn't know it was renewed for season 2 but I'm not surprised. You really do... they are two of the best martial arts action movies of the last decade. I had the pleasure of seeing The Raid 2 at a midnight screening at Sundance when it was there. The director and whole cast was there... it was amazing. The Raid 2 is on Starz right now if you have that. The Raid 2 isn't quite

Fun facts, I'm a youngin, 26 years old today. I came across this forum God knows how 10 years ago looking for advice on what to buy for my first PC build. Using my 16th birthday money to spark my neverending infatuation with computers and PC Gaming. Ended up a frequent poster at one point doing my best to not come off as a lil ol naive kid, not too well of course. Learned a

  15. So I enjoy indiewire reviews, and on the one I posted, it says something that would add context to it: "While “Spider-Man” and the “Demon’s Souls” remake showcased the system’s horsepower, and “Astro’s Playroom” insisted that Sony’s latest console wouldn’t just be more of the same, “Returnal” so inherently seizes upon what the new tech can do that it feels like nothing less than the first true PS5 game."

  22. I think the implication is that Clint should have killed Sharon or hunted her down... which isn't a plot hole at all. One, because she seems to be more of a thief than a violent murderer, Two she's VERY good at hiding... she's a former Shield Agent for God's sake. Three, she was in Madripoor where she was basically untouchable and Four, Clint may have not been aware of her or hadn't gotten around to her yet. Any or ALL of these make sense. I think we need to revisit the definition of what a "Plot-hole" is because this ain't it.

  23. I think where a person creates a sole proprietorship for themselves (and then deals with other companies on that basis), it can make sense. But in the case of just people doing normal work for a company, it doesn't.

  24. Yeah no doink. If you work for a company, you should be an employee. I'd be 100% fine with outright eliminating the entire concept of "independent contractor" from society.

  25. I do not enjoy RNG-related elements generally speaking, and am not a fan of procedurally generated content or roguelites/roguelikes. But Hades was a downright amazing game (Hades being my first real stab at a roguelike), and since Returnal errs more on the Hades side of the equation, I'm all in. There is a version of roguelites that do work for people who aren't normally fans of roguelites and avoid them generally speaking (like me and you). If that helps any.

  26. When do you think people start smoking?
    2 points
  27. There's a couple of things I hate about all this and one is the essentially religious dogmatism that anything that even LOOKS like smoking should be treated like smoking. Tobacco isn't the only source of nicotine, and nicotine isn't even the dangerous part of tobacco. For flavors, I'd feel better about just banning tobacco, I hate using "but kids like the flavors" to backdoor in restrictions. There's a better argument that tobacco is simply too dangerous to be legal.

When much of the nation considered him "America's Mayor," speculated about his presidential ambitions (shit, if Gore was president in 2000, I wonder if Giuliani would have ran in 2004), and he was considered this moderate darling... it's amazing how disliked he is now. @Kal-El814 made an analogy a long time ago -- 2019(!) -- and has stayed with me to this day: "Imagine being America's mayor after 9/11. 38. I watched Gangs of London a year ago as it aired in the UK. It is absolutely worth watching. The two episodes Gareth Evans co-writes and directs (he also showruns and produces the show) are exactly what you'd expect from the guy who did The Raid movies (episodes 1 and 5). The whole show is good and better binged and has been renewed for a season 2.
