  1. I just got my first shot today. Had to drive over an hour away and deal with a surprise snowstorm, but I made it. So far though, I feel pretty goodbzhxbejxhxbeb MUST. CRUSH. CAPITALISM. ... Huh, that was weird.

  2. @HardAct, yes sir, I have a mint condition Vita for you! The trouble is, I VERY snowed in at the moment, so I won't be going to the post office for a week or two. So if you can wait a few weeks, I'm, happy to send it to sir!

  6. Hey all, I'm really late on this thread and not going to read it all. I really just need an outlet to vent. The last week had been extremely frustrating and exhausting. It was also really hard to decipher real news and fake news. Some "fake news" that was being cleared up by our local leaders ended up being real news per ERCOT. Also, social media blaming individuals for not being properly prepped is raising my blood pressure too. I have more to say but it would mainly be emotional nonsense.

  10. Another thing (and really, the major thing) that sucks about Apple is that it's just too expensive. You can get great $200 Android phones and use them for years. It's unfortunate that Apple is the best on privacy, but the worst on price, and also not as good on customization/control.

  13. There will be lots of internet (and probably television) coverage of this mission today. See here for NASA's streams. This is a notable mission because it's based on the same platform as the 2012 Curiosity Rover, but with many upgrades, including a deployable helicopter, sample collection (for eventual return to Earth), a tech demo to make breathable oxygen from the CO2 atmosphere, and more instrumentation to search for signs of life. This is a high stakes mission that has a reasonable chance of failure, so temper your expectations. Since Mars is currently ~130 million miles a

  15. It also does stuff like, let's say you're in your browser, and you click on a link and open it in a new tab, and it automatically sends you to the new tab. Hitting the back button will automatically close the tab and take you back to the tab you got there from. It's maybe not 100% identical to how back buttons work on a desktop but I again think it's very sensible behavior for the context.

  16. Exactly, @Chris- or @Kal-El814 are probably the most normal ones. I would put @Mr.Vic20 here but he has that insane backstory thing going. Basically, if the weirdest thing about you isn’t that you post here then you aren’t normal.

  24. I also want to see more emphasis on community college. Not everyone has to go to a four year university. It was largely due to my own laziness in high school and not taking the ACT until the last minute, but I started out at a local community college because they gave me a full two year scholarship. I got my basics out of the way, got good grades, and transferred to university on a scholarship for my nursing degree. I also lived with my parents to save money and commuted the half hour. They never gave a dime to my college education. I’d love to see two year community colleg

  26. I like Sorkin's films but Sorkin Democrats truly are the worst, no question. Faux liberals, the lot of them. Also, cancel student loan debt. This is ridiculous, and we all know it. I went to college, law school, and graduate business school, it's a bunch of bullshit. I'm fortunate to have had enough money to pay it all off, but I see my classmates struggling just to learn shit and it's BS. I'm sorry, it's fucked up, end of story. Burdening the youth of our country for wanting to learn and be better is ridiculous. I'm not saying college should be free but the interest is fucking pun

  28. Second dose in, didn't wait the 15 minutes though, some bastard decided to take his mask off in the middle of the waiting area and start coughing. Everyone in my house is now fully vaccinated. My parents got it because they are over 65 and registered as my back up caregivers, my girlfriend got it since she's my primary caregiver during COVID, and I got it by, well, nevermind.

Just a reminder that they launched a (relatively) tiny piece of metal from the surface of the earth, which traveled to and landed on a body that was (at the time of landing) 130 million miles away (further than the Sun), and that body is traveling at well over 50 thousand miles per hour relative to the sun.,

  31. Valhalla can be very vibrant and full of color. There's snowy regions but also beautiful landscapes that are lush. There's a good amount of things to do in the world, too. Odyssey was awesome but I think I prefer Valhalla overall. It's more focused and not as bloated.

  32. If you click on a Twitter link on your desktop you get brought to the page in your browser. If you click on a Twitter link on your phone and you have Twitter installed you'll get sent to the Twitter app. I think it's sensible in the latter case that the back button has the effect of sending you back to your browser.

  33. More comparing instate cc to instate uni. I know in my case the nearest cc was an hour away so it was nearly the same cost to live in a dorm at my university than to live at home and commute or move closer to the cc (not that living at home was really an option). Maybe marginally cheaper but not so much to make the time wasted worth it. But I was poor and smart so I got a decent but not great scholarship, so still needed significant loans and grants. There's no way I'd ever argue that out of state is worth it under current circumstances

  34. Yeah I'm not disagreeing there on that point, but the cost of university and even community colleges is so high that the difference may not matter. When you are talking tens of thousands of dollars a year vs a couple fewer tens of thousands of dollars per year(if available!) Then why not go for the "experience" even if it is marginally cheaper?

  35. So which is it? College shouldn't be free, but cancel debt? That's why I say get rid of the interest or at least knock it down to 1% or something and don't let it start accruing while you're in college. And cancel debt if you've already paid the amount on your actual loan, but still owe thousands more due to the ridiculous interest. I saw someone say something like they took out a $9k loan, paid $16k, still owed $13k. Or something like that. That's insane. But we all know canceling all debt will never happen. The system does need some heavy reworking, though.
