  14. I finally got caught up. This is, with out exaggeration or any hyperbole, is one of the greatest pieces of media I have experienced. That last episode in particular. It should be getting talked about in the conversation for greatest individual episodes of television of all time. I really hope this show and its actors get the recognition they deserve

  18. The podcast hosts claim that there were no "water cooler conversation" games released in 2023 and that the last game to do so was Elden Ring in 2022. This is a really odd claim to make for a year in which Baldur's Gate III released and permeated the overall cultural zeitgeist in a way that Elden Ring never even came remotely close to cracking.

  19. I feel like the news that Trump was dozing off at his trial was the perfect moment for Dems to stick him with the moniker of "Donald Slump". It works for so many things. Whether he is dozing off in court, his polls start sagging, he has little Don energy at his rallies, or when he inevitably bombs at the debates.....

  21. I got into a fight with some people about this last night, specifically US involvement. They think ending US involvement would get Israel to stop, when in my opinion US involvement is the only reason they know about Gaza and would otherwise be one more forgotten people ran over by indifference, like the 300,000 in Azerbaijan. Liberal indifference to other atrocities really bugs me. They don't hate the atrocity, they hate their hands are dirty attempting to manage it. Israel without US involvement would have killed every soul in Gaza and the world would barely notice or actively look away. Probably my frustration with disability be notably absent for DEI and other progressive projects because it would actually cost money to fix.

  22. I'm trying to figure out how to post process all the images that I got, and it's quite a chore. I started out trying to get as sharp a corona as possible, given the clouds I had to shoot through. Apparently the auto align features don't really work for eclipses, so I've been manually stacking images by hand. One camera was on a motorized mount and the other shoots at 20fps, so thankfully most of the images weren't too far off (as long as I don't stack between sequences), but it's still a pain. I also feel conflicted as to just some of the basics, like color balance. It seems slightly more natural to make things warmer, but maybe the Corona is better off white? In the partial phases they're more or less straight out of the camera, but I could match the colors and exposures if I wanted to.

  23. Wife tested positive for COVID this morning, though my test still shows negative (though I assume I have it). She's had a fever for 3 days and a horrible racking cough, along with headaches and body-aches. Glad she caught it after being 5x vaccinated, and not at the beginning of the pandemic. So I guess take me out of the last-man-standing contest!

  26. First comp for the year done: Lift For Autism 2024. Pissed with myself that I didn’t spend more time practicing CBD work; came in dead last in the first event; had I been able to do just a little better, would have wound up winning overall instead of finishing third. Still a great time; ended up with the longest hold time for the Hercules Hold for anyone in the men’s class, which was nice, and had the most reps on Saxon Bar Block DL for anyone in the men’s classes, also nice. Here’s a highlight reel for anyone interested in seeing me doing my stupid human tricks, lol.

  31. I have Horizon Forbidden West for PS4 which unfortunately didn’t get this expansion. Since I plan on getting a PS5 Pro when it comes out I’m probably just going to wait and play Horizon Forbidden West on it since not only will it look and run better, but I can play this expansion as well.

  32. Not knowing what a switch is would be pretty bad, but more generally that's because computer science programs don't teach for IT jobs. Yes, computers are involved but computers are far too big a field to assume that because someone learned something about computers that they'll be well prepared for anything that involves them. If IT divisions are seeking computer scientists for IT then they're just being dumb. If you're going to be hiring from college for IT you should be looking for people with majors in information systems (or whatever the equivalent is for any given university)

  33. Vision is such a weird product. It’s the coolest thing I couldn’t recommend anyone buy. I still feel we are like 5 years away from a version of this that is affordable/wearable to where people are willing to put it on for hours. But fuck it’s so damn cool. There is just not a better way to watch media. It makes me want micro oled for tv faster than it’s going to come. It makes me rethink even needing a nice tv in the future. It brings back 3D which I never wanted to go away in the first place. But $3,500 to watch movies by yourself with a headset on is a non starter..and the content is so bare bones beyond watching media. I do like the games that are on it so far more than I thought though. And moonlight working perfectly and giving me amazing image quality at movie theater size for pc gaming gives it extra life for me. But who all has a moonlight setup? And even that app I had to dig to find it because it’s beta so I had to use test pilot. I think it shows how early on this is that the ability to resize windows isn’t on by default. You have to dig into the display settings to find it. I turned it on and it seems to work great and adds a lot of flexibility to how large your content is so I have no idea why it’s not default. Theres no cool music stuff yet. Even Meta3 launched with an AR keyboard trainer. Connection to the mac works flawlessly. You don’t do anything to set it up besides look at an icon and pinch your fingers and it’s there with perfect Iq and latency. I tried playing Lies of P native on the macbook and it was just as good as moonlight with its direct connection. But I also realize I really didn’t need the macbook for the Vision experience at all. With a M2 chip it’s quit capable itself even with multitasking so you can sorta do the same stuff native. At least I haven’t discovered a particular use yet for myself. Though I am very happy with my macbook and switching to that for my music recording but that is totally separate from its use with Vision. I do see in the future perhaps sticking with macbook for my laptop and maybe even going M5 max or whatever and not getting another windows gaming laptop in the future. I am so so so glad 3D is coming back though and this gives me more designed for 3D content than I have had access to in a long time so I’m quite happy with it. But if I like saved up 3500 to buy this thing and saw what it had to offer I’d feel pretty bad.

  35. Starfield Bleed 2 Armored Core 6 Returnal Ys9 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) Vampyr Suicide Squad Mario vs Dk Penny’s Big Breakaway Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake Horizon Burning Shores - Awesome dlc/expansion - just as good if not better than the main game. Sony really nails this kind of actual expansion style story dlc. Infamous First Light, Uncharted Lost Legacy, Miles Morales, and this. Different price points and marketed differently but all of them are pretty similar in size and scope and substantial feeling. Wish other companies did better dlc like this since games take forever to make now and this can help with the wait. There are others though of course like CP77 and I’m sure Elden Ring’s will be good. Im really happy with how it ended too!
