Schock Resigns

17 March 2015 - 03:23 PM

I can't believe miles on his car were the last straw for him. Everything else seemed much more scandalous.

" Schock billed the federal government and his campaign for logging roughly 170,000 miles on his personal car from January 2010 through July 2014. But when he sold that Chevrolet Tahoe in July 2014, it had roughly 80,000 miles on the odometer, according to public records obtained by POLITICO under Illinois open records laws. The documents, in other words, indicate he was reimbursed for 90,000 miles more than his car was driven."

“[T]he constant questions over the last six weeks have proven a great distraction that has made it too difficult for me to serve the people of the 18th District with the high standards that they deserve and which I have set for myself,” Schock said in a surprise statement on Tuesday. “I have always sought to do what’s best for my constituents, and I thank them for the opportunity to serve.”

My Wife is Amazing

09 December 2014 - 08:23 PM

She got me an Xbone for Christmas and gave it to me early. She said she couldn't wait to give it to me. She knows I loved Halo back in the day, I have all the Collector's Editions on my shelf, and various Halo books and such, so she saw that Wal-Mart was doing some deal and went and got me The Xbone-Master Chief Collection combo on Black Friday.

The funny thing is that I've really only wanted a PS4. But the fact that my wife inferred that I would love the MCC from stuff sitting on my desk means the world to me. So I haven't really been paying attention to the Xbone. What were the hits and misses so far? I'm probably going to get Destiny. What else is essential at this point?

Not much info so far. Trying to find news right now.

Another case of NYPD officer brutality caught on tape

08 September 2014 - 12:31 PM

The video is embedded in the article. Basically: Two officers ask to search a Hispanic guy standing on the street; he consents and is searched. Nothing is found. "Why did you search me?" You're under arrest. "Why are you arresting me?" 6 officer beat-down commences complete with kicks, night sticks, and pepper spray.

I'm right-of-center when it comes to law enforcement issues. I don't have much to say or even much of an opinion on a lot of these issues because generally we don't know all the facts. But this video and the fact that the DA is not even trying to prosecute the "case" against Hernandez are pretty damning.

Super LTTP: Mass Effect 3

10 August 2014 - 07:44 PM

I'd say I'm about 15 hours in at this point. I've cured the genophage (awesome), just killed Udina and welcomed Ashley back on board. I've seen Jack; kinda wishing I'd boned her instead of Tali now--who I haven't run into yet. I was getting worried there that Ashley was going to get the side treatment like Jack, Miranda, and Thane have gotten. I'm not too sure how I feel yet about the cameos. It's nice to see the characters, but at this point I'm 15 hours in and only have EDI, Liara, Garrus, Vega, and Javik on my team. I'm kind of wishing I had more team members. At this point in ME2 I had everyone except Legion.

Things I like: Vastly improved movement and combat, the revamped Normandy, weapon upgrade slots, and seeing crew mates chilling on the Citadel.

Things I don't like: Terrible slow motion dream sequences. Dear game creators, it has been well established that these kinds of moments aren't fun or engaging. Especially when you're chasing a little crying boy through the woods like a pedophile. Fuck off with this shit please. PLEASE.

That's actually the only thing I don't like yet.
