Best TV I can get for ~$600

26 March 2014 - 10:31 AM

So my TV died a little while ago and I'm looking to get a new one, but I just started a new job and don't want to break the bank in the process. I know I'm not going to get anything truly great with that kind of money, but what's the best bang I can get for my buck in that price range?

GWAR frontman Oderus found dead in VA home

Cause still unknown. No drugs in his home, either.

Tom Perkin's jokes "1 million dollars should get you 1 million votes"

14 February 2014 - 03:20 PM

At least that's what your headline should say, CNN. I know CNN sucks, but there was a time when their website and writing was top notch, not bullshit clickbait with a misleading title.

Tom Perkins' big idea: The rich should get more votes

with the main story on the front page of CNN that links to the article saying "Pay a million in taxes, get a million votes--venture capitalist has big idea: Tom Perkins says only taxpayers should have the right to vote -- and the wealthy Americans who pay more in taxes should get more votes."

From the article:

The audience at the Commonwealth Club reacted with laughter. But Perkins offered no immediate indication that he was joking. Asked offstage if the proposal was serious, Perkins said: "I intended to be outrageous, and it was."

So it's not his big idea, you twats. Just clickbait for those of us that already think he's a nut because of his ridiculously stupid 'poor people are Nazis' comment in the WSJ. But even if you watch the video where that little nugget isn't shared, it's pretty clear that he's not too serious when saying that. Or at least it seemed that way to me.

NBC continues tradition of worst possible Olympic coverage

08 February 2014 - 04:56 PM

We're two days in and I've seen two replays of events while other live events are happening. I go to their site to see if I can stream the men's luge, and immediately a hockey match from Vancover 2010 starts playing.

CVS Pharmacy will stop selling tobacco products by Oct. 1st

05 February 2014 - 09:48 AM

"Ending the sale of cigarettes and tobacco products at CVS/pharmacy is the right thing for us to do for our customers and our company to help people on their path to better health," Larry J. Merlo, president and CEO of CVS Caremark, said in a statement. "Put simply, the sale of tobacco products is inconsistent with our purpose."

Ballsy. Even where I live now it seems like someone is always in line to get cigarettes at the pharmacy.
