I mean, it's honestly better than I was expecting in many ways! The 0.2 game that came with the 2.8 HD collection was fucking AWFUL. The framerate was insanely low and the frame pacing was abysmal. Now the frame pacing is upgraded to "pretty fuckin' bad" and the frame rate is better than average! Would still love a PC version. The game has some real beautiful stuff going on, but the dithering on this base PS4 version is fucking killing me. The frame pacing hurts my soul, but doesn't quite skullfuck it like 0.2 did. But the combat is fun and I love the specials. Those are great to trigger and just wreck enemies. Graphics look beautiful as well. My only gripe is the map. It’s not that helpful. This does seem to be the case, which is a little disappointing to me. You've got a huge arsenal and it seems like everything is always effective. I'm on Proud and haven't even been slightly challenged yet. Hoping for a Critical mode soon, cause I want to push this combat to its limits. First I get what feels like the end credits of the game with footage of what I think is KH2? That goes on for like 10 minutes. Followed by some weird recap of the story with two guys playing chess. Nothing that they say resembles anything from the recap videos I watched. Now it’s some kind of KH music video? I’ve been watching absolute nonsense with what feels like no useful information for like 20 minutes. Can I just play the game please? Why are the Japanese so weird? The Disney characters also sound ... wrong. They sound like somebody acting like a voice actor trying to do the voice of iconic characters. The gummi ship feels awful and boring. I wish I could turn off the Disney Ride powers. The game looks nice visually. I am just not loving it like I did KH and KH2. Especially since the actual intro has them speaking for real. It's like they were like "Yeah Kingdom Hearts has existed for a while and we don't really know what to do with that! Usually those types of videos at the start of a KH title are clips from the game you're currently playing, if not outright telling a story, at least showing some intriguing scenes and action. Here you can just skip the missions, do them, photograph constellations, find treasure, explore, etc. It's a huge step forward in the gameplay and player choice department, even if it's still pretty meh overall.
