Favorite Multitasking Games?

I was wondering what everyone's favorite multitasking game is? By that I mean a game that you play while doing something else. Maybe you have it going while you're doing some casual work, maybe it's what you have on your ipad or phone while you watch something on netflix, maybe it's something you drop in and out of for a short round to let off some steam.

Back in the day World of Warcraft was that game for me, though to be fair it was the game I was playing all the time anyways. I just had a different routine if I wanted to watch a movie or something. I'd collect some herbs or grind for this or that. Thankfully those days are behind me now.

Hearthstone became my go to for a long time, but then I got too into it and found that I couldn't play well enough while doing anything else. I really needed focus while I was playing, which defeated the purpose.

Turn based strategy games can kind of fill that role, in that you can always move your attention elsewhere without any penalty. I've found puzzle games that work well too. Opus Magnum was a good one that I enjoyed quite a bit.

More often than not I find that I'm not great at multitasking and that the whole idea is a bad one, but I at the same time I keep trying to find games that fill this role.

How about you all? Do you have a favorite multitasking game, or do you just give them all your focus?

I played all of Death Stranding with a podcast or extended Youtube content on the go. It made the less fun elements surprisingly pleasant. I use that approach for any open world game now, which has a large amount of aimless walking or side quests which require barely any concentration.

Not in any way saying you shouldn't or whatever but I can't imagine playing that game with anything else going on. The atmosphere, sound design and sound cues are so beautifully done and were integral to the experience for me. I played that entire game at a really high volume as well actually. Loved the audio.

I enjoyed the atmosphere and choices that the game made, but for me, it doesn't make walking across a rocky landscape for 25 minutes overly fun. I might also be slightly swayed as I live in a location which allows me to enjoy really beautiful walks.

I also did the same thing playing Red Dead Redemption 2.

Recently it was Destiny 2.

Basically any open world game fits this description. Assassin's Creed, GTA, etc

Or like a mobile game.

Or Football Manager or American Truck Simulator / Euro

Basically I don't have a favorite because I do it more often than not, unless there is a game you have to pay attention to the story. Something like The Outer Worlds I would play my own music / have something on in the background then turn it down when I needed to hear dialogue.

Forza Horizon 4. There's a lot to do in the game that doesn't require much attention like speed traps, just traversing the map from one end to another, and doing sick donuts. It's one of my go-tos for watching shows and movies that only require about half of my attention.
