Xbob42
Why are we seeing tech demos for a half-decade old engine? Just release a game with that kind of shit in it, we're long past the point of foreplay.
Mr.Vic20
Well technically UE4 isn’t a static release, it was meant to grow over time to continue to add effects. Seems they still are!
legend
Very impressive. If they switched to semantic versioning, they'll only switch it to UE5 when they can no longer deploy previously written UE4 code because of substantial enough changes. For a modular engine, that could be a long time. EDIT: And indeed, they do apparently using semantic versioning: https://forums.unrealengine.com/unreal-engine/feedback-for-epic/29629-this-doesn-t-add-up-versioning-terminology?p=320624#post320624
Xbob42
Semantic versioning sounds like the final step before adding a word to the dictionary.
Reputator
You can't just point a camera outside in Dallas, Texas and call it a "tech demo". 1

To be fair, if that was Dallas, there would also be hail, sand, and a Tsunami.
